Chapter Fourteen

Jessica Bailey's POV--

I take a breath, and then ask.

"We would like to know the true story about what happened at the Moorin Mansion."

Melrik sighed, and leaned back in his chair.

"Are you one hundred percent you want to know this information?"He said, very seriously. "You two are old enough now, this kind of thing is no game. Obtaining this information, can have serious consequences." He warned.

"Yes I know, but we wanna know anyway......" I say, trailing off as Raven starts to talk.

"It's not like most of the stories...." She said quietly, it was almost more of a statement. like she already knew. I look at her, and she just shrugs.

"Just a question.." She trails off. Melrik nods.

"Like I said, this isn't a game. This is dangerous stuff."

"Well, we're old enough now to understand what's going on.

"Alright then. The full story and background or just the event?"

I look over at Raven, she looks thoughtful.

" I have to get back to help Lilly here soon, so maybe a brief summary of what happened?" Raven said, Melrik nods.

"Ah yes, Lilly. Bright and beautiful little lady she is. " Melrik smiles and nods, Raven smiles back at him.

"Okay, brief summary it is. So, the old story that says this used to be the town of Nighte Shade Mountain Valley. What's that?" I ask.

"Nighte Shade is a deadly portion of plant, and a mountain valley is supposed to be a area dipped in and surrounded by cliffs or mountains. It's supposed that we are sitting on the richest ground of the Earth. And many, many years ago, people used to find Nightshade and use it to poison others just for the property. Nightshade grown in our dirt was thought to be the most deadly and the most valuable." Melrik says, nodding.

I nod back, "OKay, it's a start. So why do people say that it was full of vampires? And that the vampires had a queen and king..."I asked, but trailed off. Melrik smiled.

"The diamond question. Firstly, it was technically a king and queen because of their martial, and social status given to them. They were born or married to be rich and powerful. It was basically the medieval times. However, it was the mansion they lived in instead of a castle." Melrik said, then rubbed his eyes. "However, the vampire part is more dependable on the person you talk to. I, for one, believe in the 'proof' people have of vampires existing, especially in that house. Truth is ladies, they were vampires. They lived among the humans, but the vampires were obviously the dominant race. With their help, the human race thrived when it came to fighting skills, healing, learning, hunting, and pretty much anything and everything."

"So why isn't it like that anymore?" I ask. Raven looks like she's in too much thought, but I focus back on Melrik.

"Well, a large group of vampires believed the human race was using them to advance themselves. Which was technically true. But these certain vampires, they believed the human race had every intention of using them and then killing them off. The other vampires weren't so sure in the beginning. Then the ideas of the disloyalty of the human race lead to the king and queen being influenced when, according to the books and tales, an assassination was attempted on the royal family within the walls of the Moorin Mansion. They ordered the human race to be destroyed, and apparently one tried to stop them from making the humans extinct. Because he went against his own, they created a much worse punishment than that of those who refused to kill off the Humans...."

"That's exactly the story I heard! Or at least pieced together from all the stories I've ever heard about the place. " I said.

Melrik nods, "Yes many stories have been bounced around. "

"I gatta go, dad's gunna be mad....and I gatta help Lilly.." Raven said suddenly as she bounces up from her chair and runs to the door.

"Okay bye!" I say, and Melrik shouts after her "Bye see you soon! Remember not to tell a soul!"

I look back at him, "Do you believe it's true Melrik?"

He looked me dead in the face, "Have I ever lied. " He said gravely, and my stomach rolled.

I apologize guys, couldn't come up with a better "short summary". Everything comes together soon, and the rest of the details about the Moorin Mansion are SOON TO BE REVEALED!
