POV--Raven
My feet start to hurt as I walk towards the mall, in the middle of the city. The sun shines bright in the clear blue sky; the rays of sunlight warming my face. The streets are busy as people rush around for errands and work. People hustle on the streets, in mad dashes to get to their destination. But though the hustle and bustle of the crowd, the wind blew so softly it was like a whisper. It made the trees quiver in the slightest motion, like calm waves on a lake. The wind whispered, almost like singing a soft melody....
It was only 12:15pm, and I don't have to be back home til 5pm to start making supper, so I sit down on a bench in a park with a pond. I sit here, staring at this weeping willow on a small hill, right on the bank of the pond. It really is a beautiful scene, with the wind moving the drooping branches of the weeping willow, almost like they're dancing.
There's ducks swimming in the pond, along with many ducklings. They are adorable little creatures, full of curiosity. I watch them swim around after their mother, a few of them playing with each other. As this happens, I notice a second duck mother and her ducklings waddle past me. The mother duck stopped to look at me, but didn't seem to be threatened. The ducklings behind her waddled up to her, a few looked over at me. One in particular, the small one, was very adorable. He waddled right up to me, and squawked at me.
"Hello to you too there, handsome." I giggle as the duckling tweaked his head sideways before blaring noise at me once more before waddling after his mother. I cannot help but smile as they walk away from me, they are just too adorable.
I look back to the weeping willow, and think about how it would make the perfect spot for a date. Throw a blanket down, have a picnic, maybe under the stars and......
"Um, hello.." someone said nervously, and I jumped. The boy standing there blushed, "I'm so sorry I d-didn't mean to s-startle you." he stuttered.
"No no, it's fine." I say, smiling. He was fairly handsome, about my age, a little taller, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He held a black thing, which I assume was to hold pencils and charcoal considering he held a sketch book. He smiled nervously, and after a second he said, "I apologize for interrupting you're thoughts, I was just going to ask if I might draw you..."
"Draw me?" I asked him, I wasn't exactly sure as to what he meant, but he seemed like a very nice guy. He rubbed the back of his neck and then started to explain.
"You see, you have a very relaxed, but proper posture, and magnificent features. You are looking very thoughtful, and creative. The very aurora around you is calming...I would like to..uh, capture it's essence, if I may." He said, looking down. I giggled, his nervousness was very adorable.
"Yes."
"Wait, really?" He instantly lifted his head with a big grin on his face. "I actually can?"
"Yes, why not? Who am I to tell an artist what he may or may not draw according to his own instinct?" I said, smiling at him. He beamed, and sat down a few paces away from me, on the grass.
"Uh, would you mind just keep looking over at the pond...or wherever it was that you were looking before?" He asked, shyly. I nodded, and looked back over the water.
Within a minute, I was back in my own thoughts. Drowning in the romance of a perfect date under the willow. But, of course, even all good thoughts must eventually come to an end. Right about the time that he had finished drawing, I heard my phone vibrate. It means it was 4:30pm already.
Good timing, I think to myself. I stand up, and get my side bag from under the bench. The boy looks a little startled, and looks like he's upset. So I make complete eye contact, and ask, "What is it?"
"I hope I did not make you uncomfortable..." He said, quietly looking down as he gathered up his art supplies. I giggled at the silly question.
"No, I just have to start heading home now." I said.
"Oh, well may I walk you home? As a thank you?" He requested it, much more confidence in his voice than before. I smiled, and nodded. It sure has been a while since someone asked me that.
"That would be lovely." I said, and started walking back up the path. The boy walked beside me, holding his supplies. He still seemed nervous so I decided to make conversation.
"My name is Raven, by the way." I said, smiling at him. "What's yours?"
"Oh I am so sorry, I'm Jackson. Jackson Hugbe. It's a pleasure to meet you miss Raven." He said smiling back at me, he seemed a little less nervous. As we walked we continued to talk, an I kept asking him questions about himself, his life, and his career.
"I am a art major student in the University. Second year, looking for an internship." He said, an when I asked him why he chose art he told me, "Art is an extraordinary thing. The simplest image captures an uncountable number of things. Like sense, or feeling, sometimes even touch...." And he went on to describe the extent of what art is, or what art could do. The way he described everything seemed to make so much sense, almost like I was in his art-loving-nerdy-shoes.
Eventually, we made it to my home. And right as I was about to say goodbye and walk up my driveway, he spoke up.
"Might I get you're number, miss Raven?" He said, smiling at me. I smiled at him, and nodded. I reached out as he pulled out his phone. I took it, adding my name and number into his contacts.
"Thank you," He said, smiling at me, "An' have a good night miss." And he walked off down the street. I smiled, and walked up into my home.
