~Derek~

It's been three months and Shadow still hasn't woke up. She's been in a coma and no one knows why. They checked the bite and it was clean. Further studies proved it was a wolf. The only thing confusing us is why would there be a wolf out in the city?

"Please wake up Shay" I whispered quietly. Her hand was placed in mine and I played with her hair. Shay and I have been friends since we were in diapers. We did everything together. We told each other everything and we knew everything. I just don't know what I would do without her.

"C'mon Shadow. I know your strong! I know you can fight this and wake up! Please." I begged. Tears brimming to my eyes.

"I-I don't know what I'd do without you. For me please wake up." I sat in silence and prayed. For anything even if her heart beat jumped or she twitched her finger. I placed my head onto the side of the bed and held her hand close to me. My eyes shut and I drifted off into a dream less sleep.

"Excuse me sir?" A soft voice called to me and a slight shaking woke me up. I mumbled and turned my head away from her.

"Others are hear to see miss. Shadow. I need to ask you to leave." She shook me harder and I slowly woke up. I ran a hand threw my hair and stood. I looked at Shadow one last time and leaned over kissing her on the cheek.

"Wake up girl. I'll be right here when you do." I walked out of her room with my head down.

"Derek?" A women's voice called after me and I picked up my head to look over. It was Shadows mom.

"Hello Mrs. Grey. I was just visiting Shadow." I ran my hand threw my matted hair.

"Don't you have school?" Mrs. Grey asked me kindly.

"I do but I skipped to stay with Shay. I don't want her waking up alone."

"You shouldn't skip mister! Go back to school ill stay with her until you get back." She must of saw my hesitation because she placed a hand on my shoulder "I promise" she had a friendly smile on her face as she lightly pushed me to the doors.

She's always been a mom towards me. Hell both her parents treated me more like their own kid more than mine did. I spent more time at there place. They always kept the spare bedroom made up for me when ever I need a place to stay. Shadow was always their for me. Always comforting an making me laugh. She doesn't know about most of the stuff that happens at home. I really don't want to worry her.

I got into my car and drive off towards school and got there just as the lunch bell rang. I only missed my first two periods of class. I was deep in thought when I made my way to my locker. Everyone knew Shadow was in a coma. She was well known and she was friends with everyone, but mostly because she wasn't with me. We always walked to classes together, ate lunch and we spent our free time together.

"Derek!" I sighed as Amanda came over and leaned against the locker beside mine. Amanda is Shadow'a best friend and she has the biggest crush on me.

"How's Shadow today?" Concern clear in her eyes.

"No change" I mumbled out. I really wasn't in the mood to be talking to a love sick puppy. "Are you going back to see her after school?"

"Yes"

"Do you think I could tag along?"

I thought about it briefly and nodded my head.

"Great! Ill meet you hear after school?"

I nodded my head again and she bounced off to her other friends. I switched out my books an walked to my English class. Shadow and I have all our core classes together so we are with each other all the time.

All I wanted to do was go back to the hospital and sit with Shadow.
