Chapter Eighteen... Visiting Minnesota

Time had a tendency to fly by at the speed of light without you even realising it.

And one weekend, I decided it was time to take Kent home to Minnesota to meet my parents. They knew about him, of course. I'd been back once since Christmas with Lucy. But Kent had had to stay in the city, as he had an exam.

Now Lucy was six months old, school was almost over, and Kent and I had been together for four and a half months. We were more in love than people actually thought, but we'd been in love with each other secretly before that, so it was understandable.

As we landed in Minnesota, Kent and I walked off the plane, hand in hand. Lucy was in my arms, looking around nosily like she always did. It was adorable when she would randomly laugh at something, and we hadn't the slightest clue as to what she was laughing at. My beautiful daughter could be very random, but she took an immediate liking to Kent. I could see her calling him daddy, since he's always around. Not that she'd ever have anyone else to call that...

I handed Lucy over to Kent and ran over to my parents as soon as I saw them. Penelope was there, too, and I hugged them all tightly. Once, I dreaded coming back to this place. But Lucy had changed my opinion of everything.

Despite the fact that her father was a loser and had basically vanished off of the face of the Earth from my eyes, I really don't regret getting pregnant. It changed me so much, and definitely for the better. Being a mom had made me a much better person.

That immature teenager who couldn't wait to get away from her strict parents was totally gone.

Now I loved to come here, see my family. To hang out with my sister, and to bond over babies. She would take Lucy before I knew it, so I would take Beatrice. But of course, she'd want her baby back, and I'd want mine.

"Mom... dad... this is Kent Adamson," I introduced my boyfriend to my parents. Bit odd, since I'd never done it before...

"Hello, Kent," mom smiled. Kent handed Lucy over to dad and mom wrapped her arms around Kent. "Paigey has talked so much about you. Never realised she had a thing for her best friend until she visited last time and told us that you two were a couple."

"Nice to meet you, too," Kent grinned.

"Hello, son," dad shook Kent's hand. "Nice to put a face to the name."

"Hello, Penny," Kent smiled at her.

"How's it going, K?" she asked, chuckling. "See mom? Told you he was perfect for Paigey."

"Here, let me have Lucy," mom said, taking her from dad. "Paige, you're looking amazing. You're positively glowing! Uh... you're not pregnant again, are you?"

"No, mom," I laughed. "No plans for any more kids just yet."

"Maybe in a couple of years, when Lucy's older," Kent added. "I mean, we've got forever, don't we baby?"

"Yes," I grinned as Kent took my hand again.

We walked out of the airport to my parents' car. They had a minivan, which seated seven. Mom and dad climbed in the front, and I piled into the very back with Kent. Lucy sat in the middle with Penelope in the car seat, blabbering on with something, except it wasn't quite words. It was adorable, though.

When we arrived at my parents house, Kent kindly carried all of our bags up to the house. I carried Lucy until my mom asked for her. It was great; Lucy loved my parents, and they loved her.

My little girl was crawling, and getting quick at it. As soon as mom put her down, she started crawling over to all of Beatrice's toys. And little Beatrice was less than impressed... Kids can be so territorial with their toys, it's no wonder that we all grow up to be so defensive.
