Chapter Twenty... Happy Family (The Final Chapter)

Three Years Later

My life had taken many twists and turns before I settled into a relationship with Kent.

There was my troublesome adolescence, my escape from Minnesota to New York, where I met Kent as he was in my classes. Then came the whole Ramone fiasco, and Lucy, who changed everything for me.

Now I was a wife, a mother, and one very happy person.

Nobody could dampen my happiness lately. Not one single person.

When Lucy was one I decided to get a job. So I came to be a secretary over time, starting off sorting mail and running errands. And surprisingly, I loved it. Kent made his way through medical school, and was now in his fourth year, having just started that. He was doing a lot of his training in a hospital now, treating patients.

Lucy was one month off of being four. That time had flown by incredibly quickly. And in that time, I never ever heard from Ramone.

Then there was my son. Kent and I had Lucas when Lucy was two, and he was eighteen months old now. I fell pregnant on our honeymoon, go figure. But it was a nice surprise.

Now I was pregnant with our third child, a girl to be named Lara. She was due in four weeks, so I was on maternity leave at the time.

Kent and I were in a shopping centre, looking at baby clothes. The kids were running around, so Kent took off after them. I was looking through a rack of clothing when I stepped back. I ran into someone, and turned to apologise.

"Oh, God! I am so sorry!" I said in a rush.

The man I'd run into looked incredibly familiar. In fact, it was a face I hadn't seen in over four years. A face that I never thought I'd see again.

"Ramone?" I gasped, frowning.

"Paige," he said simply, looking stunned. "Uh... what are you doing here? In uh... Boston?"

"I live here now," I scowled. "I've lived here for over three years! What the hell are you doing here, you asshole!"

"Will you chillax?!" he snapped. "I've lived in that many different places in the last well, nearly five years."

"Oh, well how nice of you," I hissed.

"You can't tell me that you're still pregnant with our kid, can you?" he frowned. "That was like, ages ago."

"Very funny, smartass!" I snapped. "I'm married now. With two kids, soon to be three."

"Sal and Fred said you had a girl," Ramone began. "When I went to see them. Said her name was Lacey, or Laura... something like that."

"It's Lucy," I said sharply.

"Oh, that's it," he shrugged.

"You just left," I frowned. "You just ran off when I went out of town. What, you weren't man enough to ditch me to my face, so you had to tell your roomies that we broke up so you could just skip town undetected?! Do you know how humiliating it was for me to come back, go to your place and find out you'd just left?! And I was pregnant, and scared, and had no idea what was going on. I was alone! You left me alone!"

"You gonna hold that over my head forever?" he raised an eyebrow.

"I loved you, Ramone," I spat. "I don't even know why."

"Well, you're married with other kids, so it didn't hurt you too badly."

"Oh, seriously?! Seriously!"
