Chapter Four... The Trip Back To Minnesota
"Paige, you've known that you're pregnant for almost a week! You have to tell Ramone!"
Kent and I had gotten into a huge argument when he learnt that six days after I found out I was pregnant, I still hadn't told Ramone about it. I wasn't quite sure how to bring it up. It's not every day that you have to tell your boyfriend that you're pregnant with his child because you foolishly stopped taking the pill. Well, Ramone knew about the pill, but still!
"Kent, that is my business!" I snapped back. "I'll tell Ramone. When I'm ready!"
"But you're going away tomorrow!" Kent shouted. "How's he gonne feel when you come back after a week in Minnesota and you tell him then? And worse... that you knew about it two weeks beforehand, and didn't tell him?!"
"Well, I'll have time to think while I'm away," I groaned.
"Are you gonna tell your parents?" he asked.
"No," I said simply. "It's my business."
"It's their business too, P," Kent frowned. "They're gonna be grandparents! That is huge! How do you think they're gonna feel when you tell them over the phone that you're pregnant, and that you knew about it the entire week that you were there, in their house?!"
"Kent!" I shouted. "Stop doing that! This is about me! This affects me! And I don't have to tell anybody about the baby!"
"Calm down, Paige," Kent sighed. "You have to tell them. Especially Ramone. But how are you gonna hide your morning sickness at your parents' house? Have you thought about that?"
"I have a stomach bug?" I shrugged.
"Uh... I don't think they would be that stupid."
"You'd be surprised."
"Go and tell Ramone before you go away. I don't care if you lie to him and say you found out today. Just go tell him. Okay?"
I thought for a moment.
"What do I say?" I asked, giving in. It was only a matter of time before I'd have to suck it up and tell him he was gonna be a father.
"Just say that you're pregnant," Kent answered. "Tell him you're keeping the baby. Tell him that you want to have a baby with him. Tell him how you feel."
"I feel scared and nauseous," I sighed.
"Well, tell him that," Kent chuckled. "Just tell him. Please?"
"Fine," I gave in. "Fine. I uh... I can't keep it secret any longer. He said yesterday I was acting odd. He'll be onto me soon."
"Good girl" Kent kissed my cheek as he always did to both me and Sam. "Now. Go tell him now."
"Now?"
"Yes! Right now!"
I took a deep breath in and stood to my feet. Kent had a point. I had pretty bad morning sickness, so my mom might pick up on it. And I couldn't lie to Ramone and tell him that nothing was wrong again. He knew I was lying, I think...
So I turned up on Ramone's doorstep ten minutes later, and his roommate's Irish girlfriend Sally answered the door.
"Good morning Paige!" Sally greeted me brightly. "How's it going?"
"Hey, Sally," I smiled weakly. "Uh... is Ramone in?"
"He's still sleeping, the lazy bugger," she chuckled. "You look a little on the ill side. Everything alright?"
