Analeigh's eyes drifted open, adjusting to the slightly dim light. The plain white ceiling looked familiar to her, and she sighed, realizing that the stranger she had met was just part of a dream.
She sat up, and then paused.
She wasn't home.
She stood up, searching the pockets of her jeans for her phone, but it wasn't there.Great. Just great.
It hadn't been a dream.
Her boots padded against the floor as she nervously made her way to a door on the other side of the room.
Pushing it open, she glanced outside- no one in sight.
She slid into the dim hallway, taking note of the multiple doors filing down the sides, and a large, circular open room at the end.
The brunette walked towards this, making sure to keep quiet.
The open room had dark gray walls, with black tiled floors. She walked to the center of the room, her dark eyes scanning her surroundings.Where was she?
"Lost?" A feminine voice asked from behind her, causing her to jump.
She spun around, noticing a long-haired figure leaning against the opening.
"I'm taking that as a yes."
Analeigh was unsure of what to say. Nervous tension filled the air around her as she and the stranger made eye contact.
The figure laughed, walking out of the shadows. "I'm May," She had a black band around her wrist as well, identical to the one the stranger had given her the night before. "You must be Analeigh, right?"
Analeigh nervously nodded in response.
"Follow me, then. There are some people expecting you."--
The next room was almost identical to the circular one- black tiled floors and grey walls. It was illuminated by the light of what seemed like hundreds of computer screens, each displaying a different program.
Analeigh sat in a hard, black chair, facing the tall stranger she had seen briefly last night. May appeared from behind her and walked over sitting next to the stranger.
"Analeigh, this is Kim Mingyu, head of investigations."
The tall stranger reached out his hand, and Analeigh met it, shaking it two times before retracting it.
"You probably have a lot of questions, which is expected." He folded his hands and placed them on the smooth black table. "I'm assuming you heard of the Eiffel Tower disaster last year?"
She nodded.
"What do you know about that?" He continued.
"Terrorists were planning on destroying it in order to set France into a ci-"
Mingyu laughed. "No. I wasn't expecting you to know any better, though."
"The missile sent towards the Eiffel Tower wasn't set to destroy the landmark, it was sent to destroy a person. An agent."
"Wha-"
The door swung open behind her, and someone rushed in.
"Mingyu," A familiar voice said. "Check the computer readings. I think we might have some visitors."Mingyu shot up from his chair, running his hands through his hair in anticipation. He rushed over to what seemed like the central computer, his fingers moving rapidly as he typed out codes onto the keyboard. Images began to fill the computer screens.
May reached for Analeigh's wrist, touching their black wrist bands together. A small blip escaped Analeigh's band.
"What's this for?"
"Your readings, so we can tell whether your dead or not if you go missing."
Her eyes widened. Dead? Where exactly was she..?
