Three things you cannot recover in life:
the word after it's said,
the moment after it's missed,
and the time after it's gone.

The past they shared was nothing, but a memory. A memory to revisit time to time and every time she revisited hers, it always started the same way. She would be standing in the front of class, her heart racing and her palms sweaty. All eyes on her.

"This is our new transfer student," the teacher introduced her. She had slight curled brown hair falling just below her shoulders and wore a pretty black and white dress that was adorned with small jewels and shiny beads. Her height was of an average elementary school student. She smiled nervously at her new classmates who seemed too bewildered with the idea of a transfer student in the middle of the year to smile back.

"My name is Elyssa Hamilton. Nice to meet you. I just moved back to Philadelle. I hope we can be friends," She introduced herself nervously, stumbling on her words as glanced at her new classmates. The teacher introduced herself as Ms Humber and each classmate introduced themselves as well. She tried to remember them as she fidgetted with her fingers nervously.

She stared to the ground while she walked towards her seat at the back. As she walked, she almost tripped on her classmate's stuff on the floor and panicked out of shock and anxiety. Finally taking a seat, she sighed in relief. The next part was harder. Making friends.

With a heart in her mouth, she walked over to the group of girls sitting at the bench with her lunchbox in her hand. Her mother packed two sandwiches and a small packet of milk for her to have during her break.

"Hey, can I join you guys?" They seemed a little reluctant, but smiled and moved a little to give Elyssa some space. Elyssa smiled and sat down next to them. They started to chat about something to do with their family. Elyssa tried to talk as well, but every time she tries, someone cuts her off. She hung her head low and ate her sandwich.

"What do your parents work as, Elyssa?" someone asked. Finally hearing her name, Elyssa perked up and smiled. "They are the CEOs of The Hamilton Co."

"The what?..." They stared at her with widened eyes. Their jaws dropped slightly as they stayed silent. Elyssa bit her lip and backed away a bit. Did she say something wrong?

"That is so cool!" One of them exclaimed with a bright smile. Was it? Elyssa found it pretty normal. But, they were finally commuting with her and she felt like she was fitting in.

"That means, you are rich right?" Another asked. "That company is the best of the best in the fashion industry. My mother always tells me. How lucky of me that we are now friends, right?" The girl smiled and grabbed Elyssa's hands. The smile was nothing but a friendly gesture, for now at least. Elyssa's mother always told her to be careful with making friends and someone who only cares about money is not a friend, even at the age they were at.

"Sorry, I should go..." Elyssa averted her eyes and shook off the girl's hands, walking off.

It caused rumors to spread about Elyssa, that she was scary, she only cared to befriend those richer. People started to avoid her.

She was alone.

She sat at a corner of the playground, gazing at the other kids playing. It has only been two days since she transferred, but rumors spread fast. She was going to spend her days alone from here on out.

"Why are you always alone?" a voice asked, snapping her young lady out of her train of thoughts. It was a blonde boy with emerald green eyes. He was not someone she recognized, but she recognized the ones next to him. The dirty blonde boy with brown eyes was Eden Macbeth. The two identical girls with black hair and blue eyes were Alice and Alisa Waters. The small girl with brown hair and black eyes was Reina Carter. The brown haired male with blue eyes was Tylor Caledon.

"I don't want to answer that," Elyssa replied, averting her eyes away. What was with the guy? He was so insensible.

"My name is Nile Crocodile." The male smiled as he introduced himself. "You are the new girl, Elyssa Hamilton right? Come on! Let's play together! Let's all have some fun together! All seven of us!"

"... Sure..." Elyssa said. It would be rude to turn him down after he invited her like that. They were all just after her money anyway, just like those girls. Yeah, they were no different. She convinced herself and kept speaking to a minimal, after a while they will give up and leave her alone.

"Great! Allow me to introduce to you my friends," Nile said and pointed at each of them "That's Eden, he is pretty popular with the girls in our class." Eden simply laughed and denied it, then greeting Elyssa with a simple 'hello' with a smile.

"That's Alice and Alisa, they are twins, but they are extremely different apart from appearances." Alice seemed a little perky and crushed Elyssa with a hug, while Alisa pulled her off and apologized for her sister's behavior.

"Reina, she is pretty shy and loves to read most of the time." When Elyssa gazed upon Reina, Reina used her book to cover a part of her face and mumbled "hello".

"Tylor, he is a bit rough, especially when he is angry, but he is a pretty good person." Tylor snorted and greeted her coldly. He seemed reluctant to speak to her and glared daggers at Elyssa. It sent shivers down Elyssa's spine.

"I am Nile, as I said before. I have been sick these past few days, but here I am now," Nile finished the greeting. "Do introduce yourself too!"

"Uh... My name is Elyssa. I moved back here not too long ago?" Elyssa replied, a little confused. Nile sighed and told her to try again with a fact they do not know about her, which was lots considering they never met before.

"I guess, I am normal. I do not think I have anything special..." Elyssa fidgeted with her fingers as she thought hard, racking her head for just one thing she loved to do. Then, the soft melody of the piano and the image of her fingers pressing on the piano keys entered her mind. "I guess I can play the piano pretty well."

"That's cool! I have zero musical talent," Nile laughed. His bright and wide smile along with his laughter was contagious and soon everyone around him was laughing as well. They were joking around with him happily. The atmosphere around them so bright and Elyssa felt a pang of jealousy in her heart. She wanted to be their friends, to be able to laugh beside them and smile. She could not simply wait for someone to call her out so she asked what first popped up in her head.

"Can I be your friends?" They stopped laughing and talking and stared at Elyssa. She questioned herself if she said something wrong. Her heart was racing with anxiety and the uneasiness sunk deeper into her. She averted her eyes and bit her lip. Then, someone clapped in front of her face, breaking her free of her anxiety. She blinked and stared at the clapper.

"Don't need to be so tense Elyssa, we are already friends," Alice, the clapper, said with a bright smile. Her kind black eyes looked at Elyssa softly as she grabbed Elyssa's hands. "I heard rumors about you and was kind of afraid that you were like that, but I guess they really were just silly rumors. You are nothing like what they said. The only one who earn their trust is probably my silly younger sister and Tylor."

"I appreciate if you do not say that about me sister," Alisa sighed and rolled her eyes. She stared at Elyssa with her emotionless black eyes and smiled. "It's true I was a little skeptical at first. I am sorry."

"It's okay, I was not too bothered by it," Elyssa replied with a smile. They were her first friends.

Time started to move for the young girl. Every day was like a dream with her group of friends. However, happiness never lasts forever. Time for her stopped and her life entered a monotonous life of perfection, no joy, no laughter, just work.

Years had passed and the children were now sixteen. Split apart and different.
