"We can trust him." Those were the words she muttered out. Her comrades looked at her, feeling rather confused over Alice's words. She was fueled by anger just moments ago, but after Lewis introduced himself briefly, all the fumes seemed to have been washed away.

"What are you talking about, boss? Mel does not understand at all." Mel tilts her head and raised an eyebrow. She seemed unsure of the situation, after all, her boss just switched to the opposite opinion of the mysterious male in mere seconds.

Alice did not know how to reply. By instinct? It could not be something as vague as that. It would seem surreal if so. Life isn't a game of intuition. If so, every guesser on earth should have been right, scientists would not have to go through time by time of experiments and failures and every person would achieve straight As in life.

"Alice." Someone tapped on her shoulder, snapping her out of her trance. She turned around and saw Ten. He had a vexed expression on his face and he kept glaring at Lewis. It was as if they met before, but who knows? Ten's past is a mystery and Ten was not even his real name. Whose parents would name their child after a number anyway? Only Alice knew his real name, but even to her, his past was shrouded in mystery.

"What happened, Ten?" Alice asked. It was unusual to witness the highly capable Ten in such frustration. He was usually calm and collected in tiring situations, he would be calculating possibilities and routes to take, thinking up the best plan to take. While Chase would be panicking, thinking of all the worst outcomes.

"The base was attacked and they lost." The brunette's eyes widen in shock and gasped softly. She could not help but doubt Ten's words, but he never lied. Chase and his department were strong, there was no way any gang could go against them. There was simply no way they were taken down. La Vendetta was her pride and soul, any lost by any member affected her. La Vendetta never lost to anyone and this defeat tasted awfully bitter in her mouth.

"Anything about the attackers? Who are they? Which gang are they from? Are Chase and the rest all right? Did anyone..." She wanted to ask if anyone was lost, but it sounded a little insensitive at that moment. It would also be like she was doubting her own forces that they were too weak to survive.

Ten shook his head and told her no one died. However, concerning the attacker, it was strange. There was only one attacker, a female attacker and she was a ghost. That was all Chase told him. Alice was not amused. Just like magic, Alice did not believe in ghosts or the supernatural. Nor did she believe in myths or luck. She only believed in anything that could help in her revenge against her family.

A ghost. How ridiculous. She thought that it was probably someone from one of those silly organizations. Along with the increasing number of gangs around Philadelle, there are organizations out there for suppressing gangs. They were filled with strong talented adults that spent their free time bringing down gang's pride. They attacked before, but they were outnumbered greatly by the La Vendetta members. They tried, but not hard enough. They retreated pathetically after being squashed under La Vendetta's feet.

At the corner of her eye, Alice saw it. Lewis was smiling. She realized how unbelievably suspicious he was.The forces of La Vendetta's strongest fighters could not even land much a hit on him. Even though Alice said that they could trust him, she could not help but doubt him after the news. She was glaring daggers at him, scrutinizing him. He was acting pretty normal and calm as if everything was all right. Well, La Vendetta's situation had nothing to do with the male, however, Alice could not help but suspect him.
