Cryosleep.
It was created by the RDA, so that people traveling long periods of time in space would sleep through it and when they reached there destination they would still look the same age they did before they left. The only bad thing can be the side effects you experience when waking up. How long you stay in a cryosleep determines how bad the side effects can be.
I was lucky. I didn't feel any.
I lay in side a Cyro Tank, staring up at the ceiling of it contently as I waited to be set free. Before I knew it I heard the clicking of the machine and I found myself slowly moving out of the inclosed space I had been in.
My body began to float. We were still in outerspace, so there was no gravity.
I turned my head to the right and found people with masks over there mouths floating around and releasing everyone from there Cryo beds.
"People, you have been in cryo for five years, nine months and twenty two days. You will be hungry, you will be weak. If you feel nausea, please use the sacks provided for your convenience. The staff thanks you in advance." A med tech called out to us.
I sat there for a few moments before a doctor floated up to me and began realeasing me from my bed.
"You feeling alright?" The med tech asked as he got the last strap off.
I smiled and nodded. "I'm alright. Thank you."
He nodded and floated to another bed to release someone else. I moved up to a locker that was placed near my cryobed and opened it up to find the bag with my most personal things in it.
Once I pulled it out of my locker. I began floating towards an exit that lead out of the cryo vault.
Soon I found my self floating towards a hanger that held a large trasnport ship. Once I reached the entrance I heard a humming sound radiating from it.
"Alright pipsqueak push your bag through first." A soldier said standing flat on the ground on the other side.
They must have a generator to create earth's gravity on that side. I thought to myself, fascinated.
"I aint got all day, pipsqueak." He said rolling his eyes seeming to know I was captivated by there being gravity on his side.
Giving him a sheepish smile, I pushed my bag and watched it float towards him and when it passed through the barrier began to drop. He quickly caught it and held it in his hand.
"Okay. Now grab the bar above you and pull yourself through." Looking up I found the bar and did as he instructed and soon found myself standing on the other side.
Grinning at him I took my bag and nodded my head at him.
"Thanks Soldier."
He shook his head a ghost of a smile playing on his lips at how I got easily fascinated with things that seemed normal to him.
"Just doing my job pipsqueak. Move along to the ship and get yourself a seat."
I smiled and placed my bag on my shoulder as he began helping someone else enter the room.
Quickly I made my way to the ship and tried to find myself a seat. I glanced around and saw many soldiers strapping in and a few scientists I did not know here and there.
It wasn't till my third sweep of the ship that I found Jake Sully getting situated in his seat. The chair beside him was empty. Without giving it another thought I moved to take a seat next to him.
He was so engrossed in strapping himself in he didnt even notice me.
I smiled and began buckling myself in as well.
