Chapter 1: This Isn't The End

It was a bright and cheerful morning, yet quiet. Zoey was asleep under a tree, Dren watching around them as he stroked her hair he had to admit Zoey looked cute when she slept. Dren placed her up against the tree and kissed her cheek "I'll be back soon my Kitty Cat" he said and flew off somewhere. Zoey continued to sleep peacefully until she was awoken by chirping birds above her in the tree, she yawned and sat up still half asleep. It had been precisely a month since Zoey had agreed to run away with Dren, a month since the battle when she thought that she had lost him. It didn't worry her anymore but from time to time she got the feeling that someone was watching them. She got up slowly and decided to go for a walk as it was such a nice morning to do so. She walked down an old path she'd never seen before but that didn't stop her from exploring. She walked about halfway and saw a magnificent lake. The lake was made up of mostly water lilies but that didn't even come close to its beauty. The water was clear and blue unlike Zoey had ever seen before, there were two trees above it and three beautiful pink butterflies were fluttering across the water. Zoey breathed in the fresh air, it had been a long time since she actually relaxed. Coming out of her daze she sat next to the river watching the ripples in the water and the butterflies fly over onto the water lilies.

Meanwhile Dren was looking around the area he had sensed a strong kind of presence for awhile, now it was gone. He floated down to the ground and listened, complete silence nothing moved, nothing stirred, it was completely silent. Finally Dren gave up and thought it was probably nothing and flew back to Zoey.

Back at the lake Zoey was listening to the sounds around her, she closed her eyes and fell into a daydream. A few minutes later she opened her eyes hearing a strange buzzing sound, suddenly a huge bug Predisight came out of nowhere and pushed her into the water before she could transform. Zoey struggled as she began to drown and out of nowhere appeared Sardon and Tarb "did you miss us little Mew Cat" Sardon grinned seeing Zoey struggle. "That was sooo easy" Tarb said looking pleased "so what now do we let her drown or take care of Dren?." Zoey cried out as her head went up and under the water "you won't beat him!" she yelled "he'll find me, he's gonna come for me and you'll be sorry," Sardon just glared at her "oh I doubt that highly you see your precious lover has gone on a wild goose chase we set up." Zoey screamed and cried out as she was slowly drowning "sikato finish her off!" Sardon demanded as he raised his hand. Tarb drifted into the air "have fun" he said laughing evilly as him and Sardon left. The bug Predisight had jumped into the water and was holding Zoey under now, making it hard for her to breathe. Dren who was looking for Zoey after discovering she was missing from where he left her heard her cries and flew towards the lake. Zoey was drowning under the water the sikato leaped out and disappeared, it's work being done. Dren flew as fast as he could towards the lake and saw bubbles in the spot where Zoey was drowning "No!" Without thinking he jumped in and swam towards her. Zoey was slowly fading her eyes closing as she saw Dren swimming towards her with his arms out. He reached her and put his arms around her waist, struggling to pull her up towards the surface. It was a short while before Dren reached the surface, he placed Zoey on the side of the river bank and worriedly began to check for a pulse.
