Chapter 2: Painful Memories

Dren pressed at Zoey's chest making her cough up water, he once again checked for a pulse but with no luck. He panicked and tried harder to get the water out "c'mon Zoey c'mon please your stronger than this" Dren was close to tears now he was determined not to lose her again. Suddenly Zoey coughed up even more water and lay there still, Dren for the third time checked for a pulse and a sigh of relief hit him when he felt a small pulse beat in her neck. Dren got some more water out of her and Zoey coughed slowly coming out of consciousness. Dren held her hand in his and watched as she began to wake up. Zoey looked at his worried face and coughed once again, before she could say anything Dren grabbed her hugging her tightly "thank goodness your ok" he said "don't ever do that again." He was still hugging not letting her go, Zoey threw her arms around him and hugged him back "what happened?." Dren looked slightly angry and let her go "I should be asking you that what the heck were you doing by the lake did you want to drown yourself!" He yelled but with worry in his voice. Zoey looked down nearly in tears "no Dren I... it wasn't my fault Sardon and Tarb attacked me" she held him close quite scared. He could feel her shaking slightly and calmed down "I... I'm sorry" Dren kissed her and lifted her into his arms "I was just worried about you that's all I just don't want to lose you again I-I can't." Zoey felt ashamed she didn't want to worry him "I'm sorry I worried you " she said "I only went for a walk and the Predisight pushed me in the water before I could transform." Dren sighed "don't be it's my fault I never should of left you alone" he rested his head next to hers and kissed her forehead "come on let's go we need to get you some place warm your so cold." Dren flew off with Zoey in his arms, on the way back she told him what had happened and he reassured her that everything was going to be alright even though now they knew that they were well and truly under threat by Sardon and Tarb which worried Zoey.

Zoey and Dren found a place to rest for the night and Dren held her the whole time not letting her go. That night Zoey was talking in her sleep, she was dreaming. "Where am I?" Zoey found herself standing in darkness, then realised she was in her own dream "huh?" Zoey turned around to see Dren standing a far distance from her and Sardon and Tarb in a battle with the Mew Mew's. "Dren what's going on? Where are we?" Zoey began but Dren didn't answer then suddenly the Mew Mew's appeared "he must die!" Renee said suddenly they all grabbed Dren and he struggled and Zoey saw him get killed in front of her eyes. Zoey gasped and tried to run to save him but two Cineclones held her back "no! No! No please leave him alone you can't do this!!!" She screamed out of control as they killed Dren within two seconds. Zoey screamed again "DREEEEN! NOOOOO!" Suddenly she woke up screaming and out of breath panting as if she had just run a marathon. "Hey Zoey shhhh shhhh" it was Dren he was holding her tightly trying to calm her down "what's the matter? What is it? Are you ok?." It took Zoey a few minutes before she replied "Dren I... it was awful" she stayed close to him and shook like a rabbit that just got scared by a sudden of movement in the ground. "Hey shhhh it's ok just tell me what happened" Dren said softly after kissing her, Zoey looked at him tears in her eyes "I had a nightmare, it was terrible they were all against us and they killed you out of hatred I... I couldn't save you." Tears were falling uncontrollably down Zoey's face as Dren cradled her in his arms "shhhh it's ok I'm ok nothing is going to happen to me" he reassured "I'm here now and here to stay." Dren chuckled alittle "it'll take more than just knifes, swords and daggers to keep me back," Zoey smiled and giggled "I guess your right." Dren wiped her tears away and kissed her deeply, Zoey kissed him back and he held her close to him. After several minutes he pulled away "I love you my Kitty Cat" he said softly looking into her eyes, Zoey smiled "and I love you too." Dren held her in his arms "now go back to sleep and don't worry about anything I'll be right here with you no one is going to hurt me or you." Zoey smiled and rested her head next to Dren's, that's what she liked about him, that he was always there to listen and comfort her when she was scared or upset but she was worried, worried about the memories of the past. She knew the Mew Mew's and Cineclones would find them and make them pay. The past was nothing but painful memories that would never leave her as long as she lived. Sighing she looked over at Dren who was deep in his sleep, she smiled and kissed his cheek and slowly drifted off to sleep.
