Chapter 4: Unexpected

Dren searched for hours with no luck, giving up he abandoned his search and went to the hospital worried about Zoey. When he got there the doctor came out and explained the details to him "I have quite a lot of information for you Dren, Zoey was smart enough to put on her seatbelt and turn back on the air bag before she hit the ground, the impact was well... it wasn't as severe as it could have been, her body is fine and is in good condition, only her face is the part that took the most impact due to her hitting against the air bag when she hit the ground, everything else is in criminal condition, she's stable, she's not in a coma, she's unconscious but I'm pretty sure that she will awake within a day or two" the doctor said. Dren breathed a sigh of relief "oh thank goodness" he looked through the window at Zoey who was very still in the hospital bed. "Oh and Dren one other thing," Dren turned to face him "what is it?." "Zoey is expecting your child" the doctor smiled and left the waiting room to check on the other patients. Dren stood there stunned and shocked, he turned to the window and looked inside at Zoey watching worriedly.

The next day Dren was in the room beside Zoey who was still in the bed, she didn't move, she didn't stir, she just lay there, her eyes were closed and she was still unconscious, but alive. Dren kissed her forehead and sighed. Suddenly Zoey moved, her eyes slowly opened and she looked up at him "Kitty Cat!," Dren was relieved that she had woken up. "Ugh" Zoey felt her head "what happened" she groaned, Dren smiled warmly "it was Sardon he knocked you out." Zoey sat up slowly "oh" she sounded worried "how are you feeling?" Dren asked. "A little better" she reassured him "Dren..." she was whispering now "is it ok?." Dren was slightly puzzled for a second "uhhh is what... ok?" He stroked her head comforting her "the baby..." Zoey replied. Dren was slightly shocked for a second "you knew?" He asked "why didn't you tell me?," Zoey sighed "I was scared... by the time I knew.. It was already too late." Dren sighed and lowered his head "oh" he said "Dren you still haven't answered my question" Zoey leaned closer to him. "It's fine Zoey it'll be ok" he said, reassurance in his voice just then the doctor came in "oh Zoey good to see your finally awake" he said with a flourish. Zoey forced a smile slightly worried, Dren walked towards him "is it ok?" He asked, the doctor shook his head "we're still running some tests we'll let you know I promise." After the doctor left the room Zoey noticed Dren looked troubled "Dren..." Dren looked up suddenly "huh?." "Don't worry about it ok it's going to be fine" Zoey kissed him and Dren went to get her something to eat.

An hour later after Zoey had finished eating the doctor came back, Dren and Zoey both looked up noticing. "Well?" Dren was worried, he had been for an hour, they both stared at the doctor wanting to know the answer. "It's fine" he said and smiled "do you want to know what it is?" Zoey and Dren looked at each other "no" Dren said "we want it to be a surprise." "Very well" the doctor made for the door "oh and for future notes Zoey you'll be free to leave within a few days." Zoey smiled "thank you," the doctor left and Zoey and Dren looked at each other "Dren I love you" Zoey said and kissed him. Dren smiled and held her close "I love you too Kitty Cat."
