Okay, here's the last piece before my regular update schedule starts within the next week.
Also, I realize this doesn't focus on Scott and Mitch, but essentially, they are the two biggest characters in this. I apologize if you feel like this should not be a part of this story.
Love you all, my darlings.
It has never been the easiest thing to admit for anyone. Honestly, he still had a hard time thinking about it. Things had been going good for a while. They were going great, actually. He was more than comfortable with his significant other, and though the time they were able to physically spend together was often short, they made it work. Technology was beautiful in that way.
But, why the sudden change? The abrupt turn was unexpected, coming from seemingly nowhere, and left him reeling for quite a while. He was just now beginning to wrap his head around it, and in the process, he was able to come to terms with the unstable ground his relationship was currently on. He found, however, that this didn't help much. He was even more confused than at the beginning of this whole mess. He made the decision to talk to someone. Maybe advice from another could assist him in repairing what was broken.
Who, though? He would feel like such a failure if he even so much as mentioned it to the others. They were all in happy, stable, committed relationships. Why wasn't he? What was he doing wrong? Was it even him who was the source of all of their problems?
"Are you okay? You've been sitting there staring at the wall for a while now."
He shook his head and looked up at the individual before him. "Yeah, I'm okay." Was he really resorting to lying to his friends?
The man held his gaze. "I know you're thinking about something. Do you want to talk about it?"
He shrugged. "I'm just thinking about my relationship with Lena."
His housemate and best friend sat down beside him on the sofa. "Trouble in paradise?"
A snort escaped him. "You can say that again."
The man was confused by his friend's sarcastic tone. He usually wasn't that type of person. "Kevin, talk to me."
Kevin sighed. He knew Avi wanted to help. He was also aware that Avi gave the best relationship advice out of the five of them, but Avi was in his own relationship. It was a very happy one, and though Avi and his significant other had problems at times, it was nothing to the extent that Kevin was experiencing. "I know you want to help, bro, but I've got it handled." Another lie.
Avi shook his head. He knew when his brother wasn't telling the truth. "Kev..."
"Avi, I'm serious. It's fine. I've got it all handled. Just leave it, yeah?"
Avi thought about it for a minute, staring at Kevin. He conceded and let his friend return to his inner debate. He wanted to help, he truly did, but if Kevin didn't want his assistance, then there was no reason for him to try and convince the man differently. When Kevin felt strongly about something, there was no point in even attempting to sway him. Any words of advice he could offer would fall on deaf ears, and emotions would continue to rise to a point Avi would not be comfortable with.
But, maybe there was something Avi could do. He just hoped Kevin wouldn't get upset with him. Then again, if his idea worked, then he could handle Kevin's short bout of anger. He pulled his phone out and dialed a very familiar number.
"Hey, Big Daddy! How's it going?" a chirpy voiced asked on the other end of the line.
Avi chuckled. "Hello, Mitchell. How are you?"
