"Seat belts must be buckled as we will be landing into Japan's International airport soon. Thank you for flying with us and have an amazing rest of your day." The flight attendant lady says over the intercom.
"Finally..."I mumble.
I close my book and put my seat belt back on. I look over at my sleeping father. I smile. For the first time in a while, my dad looks relaxed. I exhale quietly then open my window. It takes me a couple times to get used to the sunlight, but once my eyes adjust I see all the buildings. The scenery is amazingly beautiful. Wow... That's all I have to say.
When we're about to land, I see my dad wake up. He puts his hand out for me to take. I smile. He knows me so well. I take his hand, squeezing it as we land. I squeeze my eyes shut too but once we slow down, I relax and let out a breath I don't know I am holding.
"Did you see the view from the sky?" my dad asks.
"Yeah! It's so beautiful!" I smile big.
My dad smiles back. He knows I love traveling. That's probably why he chose Japan as a safe place from my mom. He knew I'd love it here. As soon as we grab our baggage and walk out the airport, we hail a taxi. The drive doesn't take long but along the way, I can't help but gasp with excitement at everything I see. When we arrive at a hotel, my dad pays for the ride then we turn and look at the large building. I look at my dad and he nods then walks in. I giggle and walk in after him. We check in and the man behind the counter hands us two keys. I thank him in Japanese (Yeah I know Japanese) because my dad doesn't know how to. I laugh at the man's expression then walk to the elevators with my father. When we get to our floor, I run to our room and unlock the door. I open it and gasp in excitement all over again.
"I love it!" I scream in joy then drop my bags and jump on the bed like a little kid.
I laugh and just smile for real. I have been faking to keep my mom from yelling at me for most of my life. My dad throws something soft at me and I fall onto my butt on the mattress. My eyes widen with shock then I see him with a pillow in his hand and a smirk plastered on his face.
"Oh it's so on!" I smirk back then grab a pillow and swing it at him.
We continue like this, laughing till our lungs couldn't take it anymore. He eventually grabs me by the waist and puts me over his shoulders. I squeal a little, laughing as he swings me in multiple circles. He throws me onto the bed lightly and we both laugh with tears in our eyes. We wipe away our tears once we calm down and our breathing steadies. I look at my father and he looks back at me.
"I feel happier already." I smile.
"Me too, sweetheart... Me too."
I stare at the ceiling for a while, just thinking. I don't realize how long we've been there until my dad suddenly gets up.
"Well, I'm going to go downstairs to see if there's Wi-Fi. Why don't you call Taras and see how he's doing?"
"Dad it's like 4:30 in the morning over there... He's not going to be awake."
"Check just in case." He smiles lightly as he walks out the door.
I grab my phone then turn the screen on to see about sixty voicemails and calls from my mom (figures) and about fifteen calls and texts from Taras. Oh... I immediately call him. After one ring, he picks up.
"Tasia?! Is it really you?!" he sounds frightened.
"Yes it's me, Taras... Are you okay?" I frown.
