Chapter 19

  A/N: Guys... please tell me if this chapter is stupid or makes no sense. I haven't been too great with ideas lately so I apologize for that... But if it's good, I'm glad you're still reading LOL =) Also, really sorry for the late update!

The next morning, I wake up before Leonder so I go down to the cafeteria to buy us food. I pay for the food then walk back to the room. I open the door, grabbing the food I got for him.
"Hey Leo, I didn't know what you wanted for breakfast so I got you-" I felt tension as I walk around the curtain.
My eyes widen when I see why. Taras and Leonder are both staring at me. Oh dear... This should go well.
"Tar, what're you doing here?" I ask.
"I came to see if you're doing okay, but when I got here you weren't here..." He says, darkly.
Why is dark aura coming off both of them...? I gulp.
"Well, I'm here now. I'm okay..." I walk up to Leonder, "Here, I got you a salad with chicken in it so you can gain some strength and I got you a fruit smoothie too." I put his food on the tray table that is next to him.
"Thanks..." He mutters.
"Sorry, Tar. I didn't know you were coming. If you told me earlier I would've gotten you food too. If you want you can split my turkey sandwich and fruit cup."
He nods, staring at Leonder with no expression.
A few minutes later, Taras and I sit in chairs next to the hospital bed and eat in silence. It is awkward. Not for me, but for the boys. I look at both of them and each are poking at their food. I finish my food then go throw away my trash. I turn back to see them staring at each other with a glare. I ball my fists. Why aren't they telling me why they're so mad at each other?!
"Okay, somebody has to tell me what's going on because I'm about to go crazy with you two acting like this around me!"
"It's nothing, Xyla. We just had a little talk before you walked in." Leonder stares at Taras with no expression.
"I should get going. All I wanted to do was see you anyways, cheesecake." He grabs the back of my head and lightly kisses my forehead.
I blink at him with a confused expression. He smiles at me then looks at Leonder.
"I'll see you later, Tasia." He turns and walks away.
I watch as he walks out the door with a frown. I turn back to Leonder with a disappointed expression. His face softens and he sighs.
"Sorry, Xyla, but I can't have him around me right now." He says.
"All I want is for you two to get along, my twin brother and my best guy friend..." I stare at my feet, letting my hair cover my upset emotions, "I need girl time."
"Wait! Tasia!" He calls, but I'm already out the door.
I walk all the way to our apartments and the hospital is about five miles from my house. My phone rings and I bring it out to see my dad is calling. I sigh then answer it.
"Tasia?! Where are you?! I came to the hospital to see you two but Deondre said you ran out!" He freaks out.
Deondre is Leonder's middle name. My dad just so happens to love to call us by our middle names, no idea why. I sigh. I'll tell him where I'm going, but I don't want him coming to see me right now.
"I'm going to Haruhi's house. I'll be fine, but don't tell Leo where the house is. I'm not in the mood... Please, dad..." I say.
He is silent a few minutes until he sighs.
"Alright. Let me know when you're ready to see Leo again. He needs you as much as you need him. We both know you missed each other so much." He says.
I am silent. He's right. I need him. But after all this time, he's keeping secrets already.
"Bye, dad. I'll call you later. I love you." I hang up before he can say anything.
By then, I am at Haruhi's door. I ring the doorbell and almost immediately the door opens.
"Ah it's Tasia! Come in, dear! Haruhi's in her room. You know how she is! Studying and studying!" Ranaka tells me.
"Hello, Ranaka. Is it fine if I'm here for a while?" I ask.
"Of course! Let me know if you need anything, sweetie." He pats my head then walks into their living room.
I smile lightly then walk to Haruhi's room and knock. I hear a 'come in' and open the door. Haruhi looks up from her textbook then her face softens to surprise expression. She closes her textbook then sets it aside and pats her bed.
"What's going on, Tasia?"
I sit on the bed next to her. I take a deep breath before I tell her just about everything I haven't gotten the chance to tell her. I tell about what happened on the date with Hikaru, what happened the rest of the weekend, the offer, and what happened today. By the time I finish speaking, my brain is hurting from all the info I processed while telling her. She stares at me in surprise.
"Tasia... Why haven't you told anyone about the producer?"
"Because then I'd have to explain to them I was the singer from the park, then they'll ask why I didn't tell them and it's so much explaining and complaining and I can't take being yelled at anymore!" I hold my head, my eyes watering.
Arms wrap around me and I cry into her shoulders for the second time.
"You still haven't decided?" She says after a minute of silence.
"D-decided w-what?" I ask between sobs.
"Which Hitachiin you like more?"
I blink at her in surprise. I thought she was talking about the producer's deal, but I guess not. I sigh then look down.
"After my date with Kaoru, I'll know for sure who I like more..." I bite my lip.
"I know who you like more."
"Y-you do?" I wipe away my tears.
"But you have to figure it out yourself to be sure you're going with the one you have more feelings towards."
I nod. I don't need to say anything. What's there to say? I bite my lip.
"So what do you think Taras and Leonder were fighting about?" She asks.
"I don't know to be honest. I can't believe he won't tell me either. We're twins. We're connected. We always told each other everything! So, why is he keeping a secret now...?" I grit my teeth.
"There's obviously a good explanation for it. Just ask him. If he doesn't say it right away, then it's fine. Everyone has some things they can't tell anyone. The best you can do is tell him everything that's happened to you since you thought he was gone forever." She suggests.
My eyes light up. I smile big then hug her tight.
"That's it! Thank you so much, Haruhi! Thank you for always saying the right things and thank you for being my only friend that's a girl and best friend here! I got to go! I'll see you at school!" I call my dad to pick me up as soon as I leave the apartment.
A few minutes later, I walk into Leonder's hospital room. Dad went back home since he already got to visit him for a while. He told me that my brother should be out by tomorrow though so he'll see him then. Leonder looks up from his hands then his face lights up.
"Xyla! I'm so sorry! Please forgive me!" He bows his head at me.
I put my hand on his and he slowly looks up at me with a surprised face. I smile lightly.
"You don't have to tell me... I realize now that everyone has secrets that not everyone should hear... But, can I at least tell you everything that's happened?" I ask.
He nods and I do. I tell him about how harsh the first few months were when I first thought he was gone, I tell him about how Taras was nice enough to take me in as a friend, I tell him about my new school, my new friends, my new crushes, and the offer. Anything that is necessary and important, I tell him. And he listens, letting every detail in. When I get to the crushes part, that's when he interrupts me.
"Wait, hold up a second. You have TWO crushes? And they're TWIN BROTHERS?!" His face is the look like 'are you an idiot?'
"I can't help it! It's not even about their looks, though they are both attractive," I blush, "I like their personalities. They're so different from each other and they don't even realize it." I smile like a mad man, "I like them a lot, Leo. I don't know why it's so strong. But I don't mind it at all."
Leonder stares at me for a long time. I watch as a huge smile slowly creeps to his face. I know what's about to happen...
"MY LITTLE SISTER IS FINALLY GROWING UP! SHE HAS BOYS IN HER LIFE AND SHE'S NOT BEING A LONER ANYMORE!" He fist pumps.
I laugh and hug him. I missed this guy, my other half. We laugh for a few more minutes before we talk about other things that's going on in the outside world like music and movies and all that. At some point, my phone rings. I look at the contact number and blink in surprise to see its Hikaru calling. I show Leonder and he smirks at me. I roll my eyes then answer.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Tasia!"
"Hey, Hikaru. What's going on?"
"Well... Kaoru and I want to see you and your brother, but the nurses say we can't come unless we have your permission. Can you come tell them it's okay, pleeeease?"
I look at Leonder and he nods a lot. I shake my head with a smirk.
"Yeah, I'll be right there."
"Sweet! See you!" He hangs up.
I look at Leonder and he's giving me the evil planning smirk. I groan.
"Please don't embarrass me." I walk out to get them.
As soon as the twins come in sight, they point to me. The nurse looks at me and I wave. She nods and I motion for the boys to follow. I hear Kaoru say a thank you then footsteps run towards me. They almost knock me down by each of them wrapping an arm around my shoulder. I groan and they laugh.
"How've you been holding up?" Hikaru asks.
"Is your brother doing okay?" Kaoru asks.
I smile. These two...
"We're both fine. We've just been... catching up..." I smile with a giggle.
They let go of me then look at each other. I smirk then sigh as we walk up to the door. I turn to the two and they raise an eyebrow.
"Pre-warning... My brother might embarrass me, so ignore anything he says that's not true." I groan.
"No promises." They smirk.
"I knew you'd say that..." I sigh then open the door, "I brought them."
We all walk over to the bed and Leonder scans them. I give him the 'don't you dare look'. He smirks at me saying 'try me'.
"Hello, Shappell-chan. It's nice to finally meet you." They smile politely.
My eyes widen. Why are they acting so... polite...?
"You don't have to be like that." Leonder laughs, "Please call me Leonder." He waves.
They nod and I stare at them. This is so unusual... I shake my head then clear my throat.
"Leo, this is the Hitachiin twins. This is Hikaru and this is Kaoru." I point to the correct twin.
They wave with a smile and Leonder looks at me in surprise.
"How can you tell them apart?!" He asks.
I smile as I look at the two.
"I told you, they're different from each other."
They stare at me in shock and I giggle, starting a new random conversation. Leonder asks them about their lives and how school is for them. The twins answer respectfully and I mentally thank them for that. Leonder seems to like talking to them. I smile at the thought of him accepting them. It becomes quiet and I look around to see three pairs of eyes on me.
"What're you thinking about, Tasia?" Hikaru smirks.
"You're blushing, Tasia... What're you so happy about?" Kaoru mimics.
Found their true nature. I shake my head, still smiling.
"Nothing. Just glad my brother is back." I smile cheekily at them.
My brother looks at me with the 'we'll talk later' face then scrunches his eyebrows.
"Have they heard you sing yet, Xyla?" Leonder asks.
Oh crap! I didn't tell him they don't know I'm the park singer!
"Of course we have!" they say.
"Your sister has a lovely voice." Hikaru compliments.
"It's like an angel." Kaoru smiles.
I blush.
"Guys... I thought Leo was gonna embarrass me!" I pout.
"So then you guys have seen her park performances?!" my brother's face lights up.
They both look at me confused.
"Park..."
"Performances...?"
My eyes widen and I look at the ground.
"You're the daughter in the father-daughter act, aren't you?!" they ask.
I wince then nod.
"Why didn't you tell us? We wouldn't have said anything."
I look at them with a frown.
"Eventually the whole school will find out and all they'll keep asking me to do is sing for them 24/7... They won't even get to know me for who I really am..." I sigh.
"Is that why you look depressed sometimes when you sing to the girls?" Kaoru asks.
I look at him in surprise. He's noticed? How sweet. I nod at him and he frowns.
"You'll have to tell the others sooner or later." Hikaru points out.
"I know... Someday I will..." I smile, sadly.
"We should start going home now." They stand up.
"I'm going to walk them out to the car, okay Leo?" I turn to him.
He smirks, nodding slowly. I groan then follow them to their limo. Hikaru hugs me before getting in the car and I smile. Once he is completely inside, Kaoru turns to me.
"I know it's sort of a bad time right now, but... are we still up for the date? I understand if you want to postpone it because of current events, or cancel it for any reason..." he looks up at me, a bit nervous.
I smile. How cute.
"Of course I want to still go on the date. Is this weekend okay? I'm sure I have no plans." I smile.
His face lights up and he smiles. He nods then kisses my cheek.
"I'll pick you up around five! See you at school!" he waves then gets into the car, driving off.
