Holding my tongue is something I've never done. I don't understand why he expects me to do it now "All I'm sayin is you didn't have to go off on the girl Zo damn" He says pacing back and forth like he's troubled "August the bitch was being disrespectful... I checked her ass end of story" I ramble thru my makeup bag looking for my eyeliner. "Man whatever hurry up so we can go" he walks out the room with an attitude but frankly I don't give a fuck I'm so sick of him and his shit.

We arrive at his mom's and he turns to me "She don't know we been arguin" I shurg "Then don't start shit with me and it'll go smoothly" I opened the car door and got out. He's sitting in the car I guess trying to regroup from that last comment. After he gets out we walk into her front door and are greeted by at least ten people. "Whens the last time y'all came over here" His mom says giving me a hug "It has been a while" I smile "Come here son give me love" They hug "Mama you got it smellin like heaven" We go in the kitchen with the family "It always smell like that you would know if you came over more often" Thats Ty, August's brother they always bumpin heads. They are always in competition with each other "I mean as long as mama understand why I don't have to explain shit to you" He says pulling out my chair "Leave your brother alone Ty I'm just glad they're both here"

After dinner some of the family left then me and August, Ty and his two daughters, and mama sat in the living room "Give me my remote child my shows are on" she says taking it from her granddaughter and sitting in her chair. "Zola what you been up to" I snuggled up to August and he put his arm around my shoulders "I'm good Ty what you been up to" He props his leg up on the arm of the sofa "None workin and chillin raising these girls" "Go get ready for bed girls..." "Aww man do we have to grandma" She nods while still watching tv "You got school go to bed" They come and give me and August a hug "Goodnight uncle August and auntie Zola" "Goodnight babies" They leave out "August when you gone make an honest woman out of Zola" Ty ask with a smirk on his face. I don't like where this is going it's time for us to leave. "Ill tell you when you get out of mama crib and responsible enough to check me" Yea it's time to go "Baby we should..." "Funny I ran into Jordan and Jayla" Ty's smirk turns into a devilish grin and August facial expression looks like he's seen a ghost Those names sounds familiar "Who's Jordan and Jayla" I ask, mama gets up "Ty and August first loves" she answers walking into the kitchen. "Yea it's been five years since we seen them" Ty says getting up to check the door. I look up at August who hasn't said a word but still has this shocked look on his face. I sit up and stare at him "What" He comes back to earth "You act like you seen a ghost..." "Speaking of the devils" Ty says and after that laughter "Shut up Ty you're always joking" August stands up fast seeing them. Oh yea it's definitely time to go. "Hey August it's been so long" She walks up and hugs him and he looks at me "Uh hey this my girl Zo, Zo this Jordan" She extends her pretty little manicured hand out to me "Nice to meet you" she smiles I can tell it's fake "Hey ladies" "Mama!" They say in sync they hug and I stand up "Im ready to go" August grabs my hand "Come on"

"So what happen with you and Jordan" I sat on my side of the bed "Nothin" he walked in the closet getting undressed "Nothing happen and you looked like the ghost of Christmas past came to get you" I started taking off my jewelry and putting it up, he cleared his throat "I said nothin happened drop it Zola" he walked off into the bathroom and slammed the door. Okay I got something for his ass. If he think he comin anywhere near this bed tonight he thought wrong. I put on my Pajama shorts and one of his t-shirts, then pulled the covers back. I grabbed his pillow and blanket then stood by the bathroom door to wait for him. He opened the door, I shoved his shit in his hands "Don't get in my bed" I walked off and climbed in the bed "What the fuck I do now Zo" He questioned standing on his side looking puzzled "Go ask Jordan... Goodnight" I propped my pillow, turned my back towards him and pulled the covers over me. He stood there for a minute, I guess debating if he was gone get in the bed or not "You trippin" he walked out the room to the guess room and slammed the door again. I don't know what we're going thru but I'm tired of crying myself to sleep.

I wake up and August is nowhere to be found in the house. I get dressed and ready for work. Four hours in and I'm already ready to leave. Someone comes behind me and tickles me on the side "Hey sis" I laugh "You know I hate when you do that Lea" she grabs a cup and pours her some coffee "I can't help it" She laughs "Whatever girl" "How was last night" We sat down at a table "I don't even wanna talk about it girl" "That bad" she sips on her drink "Don't get me started" she shakes her head "Well tell me over lunch" I guess I can go for lunch "Ok girl come on"

"Yes girl so I ask him what happen between them he tells me to drop it" She shakes her head "Girl he ain't shit" "He ain't" I agreed "Hey y'all" we were walkin back into the hospital "Hey Kay" we greeted our coworker and friend "Somebody been lookin for you girl" I look at Lea then back at Kay "Who" "His name is..." she pats herself looking for something "Come on spit it out Kay" Lea rushes her. "Here it is Odell and he left his number said you would know who he is and to call him" Did she just say Odell. I start to bite my nails and went into deep thought. I haven't seen him in years. What is this ex pop back up week. "Helloooo earth to Zola" I snap out of my thoughts seeing Lea wave her hand in my face and Kay yellin out to me "I'm sorry I just haven't seen him in a minute" Lea laughs "Seriously Zo" I look at her "What happen" Kay suspects "Nothing..." "The last time she seen him was graduation day when he told you he wanted to go play pro ball" "We agreed to go our separate ways Lea and that doesn't even matter it's been a while" Lea laughed "Don't let August find out" she walked off and we all went to finish working.

"Iight hit me up when you get in town... Yea... Yea man.. iight later" I walked into our bedroom and straight to our bathroom "Hey to you too" I shrug my shoulders "I didn't think we were on speaking terms" He walks up behind me, wraps his arms around my waist and sits his chin on the top of my head "Why would you think that" I stopped washing my face "August leave me alone with the bullshit tonight" "Baby..." we stare at each other thru the mirror "Come on I'm sorry for last night, how was I suppose to know she was gone come over there" Why did he make this about her "You're full of shit" he removed his arm "Damn Zola Im tryin to apologize why you makin this shit difficult" He walks out the bathroom. "Ok you wanna apologize then tell me what happen with you and Jordan" I step by the doorway and he sighs "This shit again... nothing happen Zola" "Whatever August" I close the door and turn on the shower
