"Where are you going?" My father asks. "Out daddy. What are you doing today?" I ask back. I still have my suspicions on why he's really here but I'll figure all that out later. "Nothing. Do you mind if your father joins you?" I crack a fake ass smile, "Okay." I sit down while waiting for him to get dressed. I haven't talked much to Ty since the encounter with his ratchet ass baby mama. It's Friday though so I wonder if we're still on for our date tomorrow."All ready baby girl." I get up and we leave the house. We get inside Zo's car. "What's wrong with your car?" "It's just stopped working. I tried to start it up the other day and no luck. Maybe I could get August or Chris to fix it." My father sucks his teeth, "Your father can fix it. I don't even want you associating with, don't even think about Chris." "But daddy August and Zo are a thing again well becoming a thing. What if I wanted to do the same?"
"I don't care. Zo is a strong girl and she can handle herself." "So I'm not as strong as Zo is what your saying." I say rolling my eyes. "No I'm not saying that. Zo doesn't wear her heart on her sleeve... Look I just don't want my baby girl getting hurt anymore than what you have too." My phone begins to ringing interrupting our convo. "Hello?" "Just admit you don't want to talk to me and I'll be fine. Got me waiting by the phone and shit." I laugh, "Hi." "Ain't no hi Alexis. Where you been at? The girls been asking about you."
I smile, "My bad things got a little crazy. Tell them I said hey." He laughs, "I will. What's been happening?" I glance over, "I'll tell you later. Are we still on for tomorrow?" I ask. "Of course." I smile, "Alright." "Alexis it's not good to talk on the phone and drive." My father says. "Ok daddy... I'll call you later." "Alright gorgeous." Ty says. We hang up.
"Who was that?" "Daddy really?" I ask. "Yes Alexis. I can know who my daughter is talking too." "Yeah if I was sixteen, I'm twenty one just in case the years of travel gave you amnesia." He chuckles, "Alexis you took so much after your mother." I crack a smile. "So what's up pops? How did you go from we never see you to now you're here for three months?" I ask. "Can a father just want to take time to visit his daughters?"
We pull up to the grocery store. I'm still not buying this just because act. "Get whatever you want it's on me." My father says. "Sure dad. I have my own money though just like Zola." I say sarcastically. "If Zo was here she'd get the same response." "Sure daddy sure." I walk over to the candy. Someone comes up behind me and places their hands over my eyes. "Guess who?" They ask.
"Excuse me young man move your hands from around my daughter." Oh God. I roll my eyes and turn around and see Ty. He smiles showing his dimple. "Well Ty meet my father. Daddy this is my friend Ty." My father exchange looks with Ty. He puts his hand out and Ty reaches right on in. "Firm grip. You could be hurting my hand." "Not as much as you could be hurting mine with yours sir."
"Alexis!" The girls say running over to me. "Hey!" I kneel down and hug them. "We missed you, when you coming back?" I look up and see my father and Ty laughing. Well that's a first. Normally I'd be getting that I'm sorry look from the guy as he walks away. "Soon girls." I say smiling at them. "Jessie! Adrienne!" Ty mama comes down the aisle. "Hi Alexis." I get up and hug her. "Hey."
"Well Mr. James it was nice to meet you." I hear Ty saying. I turn around and see him eyeing me. "See you tomorrow." He whispers with a smile on his face. "See you guys later." "Bye Alexis." They say in unison. I grab the candy I wanted and walk up to my father. "He seem like a nice young man." "Uhm mhm." I agree. He's never liked any guy except for Chris and now Ty. Well maybe Ty replaced Chris. I really just hope this nigga just don't decide to pop up like he's so good at doing. It's no telling what my father will do.
I head over to the ice cream aisle. I grab some ice cream and then we proceed to checkout. I turn around and see Ty again. He just smiles and keep walking. I shake my head and I walk out while daddy dearest grabs the bags.
"Man you swear it ain't shit going on between y'all but what the hell was that Alexis?" On God this nigga just pops up out of no where. "Chris I swear if I were you I'd get gone fast." "Why so Ty can't see me?" I roll my eyes and walk to the car. My father makes it just in time without seeing Chris. Thank God. That is a problem I just don't feel like dealing with today.
The next day...
I wake up from my nap and prepare to get ready for this date. I stand there eyeing my entire closest. I call Zo. "What's up?" "I need help." "With what?" She asks. "Sooo Ty is taking me out tonight and I have no idea what to wear." She laughs, "That's very interesting to hear." "Zo please save it for later. You can do then whatever your trying to do now." She laughs, "Go into my room and check to the left side of the closet. It's a red dress I've been saving it but you can wear it." I smile walking into her room. "Owwww cute." "Thank me later." We laugh and then hang up.
I walk into my room and get dressed. I go to start my makeup until it's a knock on the door. "Daddy can you get that?" I yell. I get to my lips but a loud thump makes me smear it all over my face. I walk into the living room. "You think you can put your hands on my little girl?!?" Oh my God. I snap a pictures really quickly. I have to show Zo this! "Daddy!" "Alexis finish getting ready for your date. Let me handle this."
He has Chris jacked up to the wall. "Daddy please put him down and stop choking him." Chris light face is becoming fifty shades of red. "He can't breath." He drops him to the ground and Chris gasps for air laying on the ground. "If you ever in your life put your hands on another woman especially my daughter you'll lose every ounce of breathe in your body!"
I stand there and watch Chris get up. He glances over at me before leaving. The marks of my father's hands are visible and shit he looks out of it. I feel kind of bad. Chris leaves and my father sits on the sofa drinking something. I shake my head walking back into my room finishing my lipstick.
"Daddy I'm gone I should be back around 12." I say grabbing the keys. "Why isn't he picking you up?" He asks. I groan, "Daddy please don't." "Alexis my little girl deserves to be picked up by her date not her picking him up." "Let's not dwell on that. How do I look?" I ask. "Grown." I mentally roll my eyes, "Daddy." "You look beautiful Alexis." I smile, "Thank you."
I leave out and get inside the car. I pull out and cut the radio up. I need something to ease my nerves. I grab my phone and put in the address. A few minutes later I pull up on his street. I can see him and the girls standing outside. I smile at the sight. I pull up to the stop sign and see a trucking coming up on the side of me. "Oh shit!"
