She was stood outside the shop, her father watching from the window inside. They were both waiting for the knight bus to collect Rosie and whisk her off to her holiday. She kept glancing up at the clock on the outside of gringotts, shining brightly in early July sun.
Finally it pulled up with a large crash and bang, the engines churning loudly as the door swung open with a high pitch squeel. A spotty man erupted from the door, he shielded his hand from the sun, swearing under his breath.
"Welcome to the night bus, I'm Stan and the conductor." Said the pimply, toad like young boy. "Come in, come in, make yourself at home!"
A long hour later, after Rosie had been violently sick twice after one of Stan's hot chocolates, she arrived in Ottery St Catchpole, outside the postcard-perfect home of the Diggory's.
There was flowers underneath the windows, sprouting all the colours of the rainbow, the grass shone as the fresh rain glittered over it. Smoke emitted in sheep like puffs and the sky shone onto the polished ebony front door and glistened in the pristine windows.
Only a few things would give away that this was a wizard's house - the stack of mucky, old, magic carpets piled behind the shed, the chickens laying eggs larger than the palm of Rosie's hand, and the fact that Mr Diggory was in the front door, waving is wand around the hinges.
Rosie pulled up her satchel around her shoulders and trotted over to Mr Diggory, who heard her approach and pulled himself up to greet her with an enormous smile. Rosie was exceptionally nervous as it wasn't only the first time she'd met Ced's parents, but because they were so well known in the wizarding world.
"Ahh Rosetta!" He said in an eccentric tone. "A pleasure to meet you! Our Cedric has tidied his room especially for your arrival. He has polished the door knobs and all!"
Rosie walked up two story's of stairs, which was strange as from the outside the bungalow looked like a one story house, and into an open doors, at the very end of a long dark corridor which was riddled with other doors and corridors.
"I'll see you later then, dear." Mr Diggory smiled, patting her a little to hard on the back. "Any problems just come and find me, I'll be around somewhere!"
And with that he trotted off, leaving Rosie outside the biggest door at e end of the corridor. She came to the conclusion that Mr Diggory meant for her to enter this room, so she knocked lightly on the door twice and a loud bang and some other loud noises erupted inside and a moment later Cedric appeared at the door.
"Roz!" He grinned a she locked her in a mind-numming hug. "It's strange not seeing you everyday like at school. We'll be back soon enough though hopefully."
They sat in Ced's room all afternoon, laughing a joking and telling each other anecdotes of their holidays do far, even though they were only three days in.
Rosie and Cedric's parents had been planning a trip for them to both go to Sweden for the first week of the holidays, obviously accompanied by Cedric's parents.
Rosie couldn't wait to see all the historical wizarding artefacts and monuments around the country whereas Ced was more interested in visiting the home ground of the Bulgarian Qudditch grounds,
"I hear the stadium walls are built of melted down Snitch's and that the only staff employees are veela!" Cedric exclaimed as the ran down the steps to eat tea.
They were to set off an hour after they'd eaten and Rosie couldn't sit still with excitement! The pair of them ate their tea's quickly as Mrs Diggory piled more on their plates saying that Molly would have her neck if she caught her giving portions the size she was.
