"Well if I'm honest with you Rosie," Lene said, lecturing Rosie as they walked into the great hall to take their place at the Gryffindor house table ready for the sorting. "They're cocky first years at the end of the day and you basicaly threatened to kill him."

"You would've if you'd heard what he'd said about Aunty Lilly, Uncle James, Hagrid and the Weasley's." Rosie said, taking a breath after her long list. "They're literally my entire family he insulted."

"He didn't say anything about Garrick though." Lene said as they sat down opposite Fred and George.

"If I remember correctly he was a creep." Rosie whisperedas she adjusted her hat, waiting for the sorting to begin as the first years were  into the hall and into the back chamber. Professor McGonagall was presumably giving them the traditional first year speech, the rest of the hall still deep in loud conversation. "This better not take long. I want to have a reunion with my good old friend Mr Black Lake."

Lene laughed as the sorting hat began it's song, the hall grew steadily quiet. Rosie sat chewing her nails as the rest of the hall clapped loudly. She joined in towards the end as George gave her a look as if silently asking her if she was Ok.

She skimmed the hall as the clapping died. Her eyes settled on the Hufflepuff table where she saw Cedric Diggory grinning with his friends, and clapping along with everyone else. He seemed foreign to Rosie's eyes as they turned from their usual content orange to the sad blue colour she reserved for particularly emotional moments.

A tear streaked down her face as 'Abott Hannah' was called and sorted into Hufflepuff. SHe hadn't thought much about Cedric during the holiday and he had been put to the back of mind, until know. It was the first time she had really thought about him and all her old feelings came rushing back for the boy who was like a brother to her.

Rosie sneakily wipped away her tears as Boot Terry was sorted into Ravenclaw. She took a deep breath as she clapped Terry polietly. She glanced at George who was giving a look to Fred which they noramlly used when a new member of a different house was sorted. Rosie then focused on the boy chatting happily to Hannah Abott in Hufflepuff, her old best friend, and she wondered if she'd made the right choice...

"Granger, Hermoinie!" Was next to be called and Rosie sat herself hopefully. She had worn her lion earings today, hoping that a few good eggs would be put into her house, the house that her father prided himself in so dearly.

"GRYFFINDOR!" Shouted the hat.Rosie jumped up from her seat along with a few others around her. Lene raised her eyebrows from the seat next to her but cheer'd loudly nevertheless. Gryffindors were always the loudest at sortings: the roar of the lions.

Neville Longbottom was also sorted into Gryffindor, and Rosie cheer'd whilst jumping up and down with Katie Bell, but Neville soon had to jogg laughing back to the three legged stool as he had walked off wearing it, making Rosie smile.

After another half a dozen or so people were sorted, only a few were sorted into Gryffindor. Rosie's hands were red raw and her knees were aching, but the sorting was soon comign to a close and she could feel her eyes drooping and her tummy rumbling.

 "Potter, Harry!"

Whispers broke out all over the hall and Lene looked over to Rosie with her mouth hanging wide open with a shocked expression of disguist on her face.

"Potter did he say?" She said in a loud whisper.

"You don't look to happy." Rosie said, giving Lene a questioning look.

"Well, the Quibbler said..." Lene began.

"Seriously Abilene." Rosie sighed. "Have you not seen Xeno since Mrs L passed. More bonkers than he was before. Don't go judging Harry before you've even spooken to him."
