A large black Land Rover was parked at the curb. Louis unlocked it with his remote and before I could open the door he had it opened for me. With any other guy I would have taken the gesture as a polite thing to do but with Louis I knew it was all about control. I observed the interior of the car as he made his way around to the driver’s side. As we pulled away from the curb and onto the street I heard the click of the doors being locked. He had locked me in the car with him. Not a word was spoken the whole car ride and I was afraid to break the silence. Finally we arrived at a small restaurant where I had to wait in the car until Louis came around to let me out. I hopped out of the large vehicle and was forcefully pulled into Louis’ side by a familiar strong hand around my waist. He definitely had a need for control. We were seated at a small table for two in the back. It was quiet in the restaurant except for the numerous conversations by the other people. I felt a foot wrap around the leg of my chair and pull me closer towards Louis’ side of the table.

“So Karsyn, what do you do for a living?” Louis asked as he slipped his hand onto my leg and up my thigh.

“I-I’m a secretary at a record company.” I said as I tried to free myself from him.

“Interesting, I’ve always wanted to fool around with a secretary.” He said playfully as his hand tugged at the waist of my jeans.

“Excuse me I have to use the restroom.” I said standing from my chair.

“Hurry back, love.” Louis said with a wink.

I rushed into the restroom and sent Eleanor a text. I didn’t know what to do about Louis. I wanted to just leave and remove myself from the situation but I was scared about how he would react. El sent a text back and told me to just leave and come home. After I had spent a few minutes in the restroom I decided to sneak out the front door. I ducked my head down and started to walk in the dark towards my home. I was about to walk past Louis’ Land Rover when I noticed a familiar body leaning against the black SUV. My heart sank as the figure moved away from the car and walked towards me.

“Did you honestly think you could just skip out on our date?” he asked in a harsh tone.

I had no time to think or react to my fear before it took over me. I just turned and started to run down the empty street. It wasn’t long before I heard the sound of footsteps behind me. He was gaining ground on me with every stride which made me push my legs even harder. I turned a corner and ran through a nearby dark ally. Before I knew it, the familiar arms were roughly flung around my waist and my back slammed hard into a nearby brick wall. I winced in pain at the impact and what little breath I had left escaped me. Wasting no time, a hand covered my mouth to prevent me from screaming.

“Don’t scream. If you would just give in to me we wouldn’t have to go for these late night runs.” His voice scratched the air with sarcasm.

I couldn’t speak or break free from his grip I was too weak from fear and exhaustion. From the combination of impact and the harsh chase, my head began to spin. I felt things start to fade to black, like a black and white TV before the scene faded to static. I felt my body be lifted off the ground by strong arms and my head rested against the chest of my chaser. Even though I was terrified for my life something about his arms felt safe. My thoughts raced through my mind as fast as they could until they came to a screeching halt. That’s when the world around me faded to black. I hoped this wasn’t the end for me.
