Chapter 13

I felt my heart in my throat as Louis tugged me through the crowd at the club. The smell of sweat and alcohol made my stomach turn as my sense of smell had seemed to be heightened, making me nauseous. Louis spotted John in the back corridor near the restroom and continued to pull me with him in that direction. It took seconds for us to reach John but oh how I wished I had more time to prepare.

“John outside, now!” Louis growled over the music.

“Hey calm down mate. You really want to do this in front of your little bitch?” John scoffed.

Louis grip on my hand tightened as John spoke and I squeezed back reassuringly.

“Now!” Louis spat back.

John shrugged, threw his hands up in defeat and proceeded towards the back door. Louis led me behind them as the exited the club and into the ally. All of a sudden we were joined by two very large guys dressed in all black. This whole situation made me feel weak and sick to my stomach.

“So what can I do for you Lou?” john asked in a mocking tone.

“Why did you kill my sister? Let’s start there.” Louis barked back, standing his ground.

“Oh Lou, you just can’t let the past be the past can you? The past can ruin you mate.” He replied.

“Why’d you do it John?” Louis yelled causing me to jump.

“She was always in the way. Always dragging me down, getting in the way of my business. Much like your little friend here is getting in your way.” His voice cut me to the bone.

“Leave her out of this! What do you want from me john? Why did you come back?” Louis tried to remain calm.

“You must have forgotten the way you treated me when I first started dating Katie.” He said moving closer to Louis. “You tried to stop me but you just couldn’t could you? I haven’t forgotten the way you treated me all those years and the beating you gave me that one night when I brought your sister home. I vowed I would return the favor.” He said as he clutched Louis throat.

I screamed and tried to get to my boyfriend but I was stopped by the two large men. I needed to get to him I had to stop this I couldn’t let my dream come true.

“Oh love doesn’t fight for him. He’s just a waste, can’t you see that? He has put you in harm’s way more than once and he will continue to do it until the day he dies. Which can be very soon.” John explained as he pulled out a gun.

My stomach turned as I could see my nightmare coming true before my eyes. I tried to scream but everything was fading around me. Just before everything went black I heard a shot ring out, making my heart sink and just like that my world went dark.

“Karsyn, Karsyn honey wake up.” I heard an unfamiliar voice whispering to me.

“Louis?” I whispered as my eyes started to flutter open.

“Louis isn’t here honey. Can you open your eyes for me Karsyn?” the nurse’s soft voice called to me.

I opened my eyes and realized I was in a hospital bed. I immediately sat up and began to panic. I noticed it was still dark outside so not too much time could have passed.

“Where is he?” I asked as tears escaped down my cheeks.

“He’s just fine he is getting stitched up down the hall. The two of you had quite a night. I'm going to check you out then you are free to go.” She explained but I had tuned out after he’s fine.

She took my vitals, checked my eyes and cleared me to go check on Louis. She pushed open the door and I entered the room slowly. The sight in the hospital bed caused me to cry even harder. Louis had a sling on his right arm, a bandage on his head and stiches on his left hand. He opened his eyes when he noticed my presence in the room.

“Hey love.” He smiled at me.

I made my way to the bed but couldn’t bring myself to go near Louis.

“It’s alright Karsyn, you won’t hurt Me.” he held out his injured hand for me to take.

With caution I approached him and rested my head on his chest.

“I thought you had left me.” I sobbed into Louis torn shirt.

“I told you, you are my strength Kar. And I'm never going to miss the way you fix me. I'm never going to leave you.” He said as he planted a kiss on my lips.

He stood up, wrapped his free arm around me and we started to walk towards the door.

“I love you Karsyn.” He said as he kissed my cheek.

“I love you more Louis.” I said smiling at him.

“Thanks for changing Me.” he said as we walked down the hallway.

“Thanks for giving me something to fight for.” I replied.

We walked to the car and I drove us back to my place where I could keep an eye on Louis and make sure all his wounds healed. I was never letting him out of my sight. I loved him more than anything. I couldn’t believe how something so scary turned out to be the biggest change of my life. I couldn’t imagine my life without Louis around to fix me.
