Chapter 11. Ignore

Kayla's POV

I haven't had a good conversation with Thomas in days. He's been by the girls side every second of the day. And when I do talk to him, it's like there's another person there he's talking to.

I sat on my bed, looking at my dove necklace. I held it in my hand and my door opened.

"Hey Kay." Newt said and sat next to me. I smiled up at him and sighed.

"The girl woke up a few minutes ago saying his name." Newt told me. I looked at him.

" So you came to talk about her." I asked. He shook his head and wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

" no. And I know he's hurting you Kayla. "

"it's that noticeable? " I asked and he chuckled.

" yeah, almost everyone has noticed but Tom. " He said and I laid my head on his shoulder. I closed my eyes and a single tear ran out. I felt Newt wipe it away and I sighed.

"frypan made dinner, come eat." He said and i nodded. I put my hair in a ponytail and followed Newt out into the glade. I looked around and saw some gladers burning things and burying bodies.

When we arrived at the kitchen Frypan had already made me a plate. I smiled at him and sat at the table farthest away. I sat in silence with Newt eating until chuck came and sat across from me.

"Never thought I'd see ya again kayla." He said, laughing at himself. I'm happy that all we've been through in the last few days, this kid is still happy.

"Well I'm here chuck. " i said and he smiled. I finished my food and gave frypan the plate. I walked along the grass and took in everything that happened.

I turned my head and saw Thomas walk out outside. We met eyes then I started walking away. I heard him call my name so I started running towards the deadheads. I heard his heavy footsteps behind me and I reached the wall. My back was against it and I stuck my hand out.

"Stop thomas!" I yelled and stopped a few feet from my hand.

"Kay I just.." He started but I walked up to him.

" Why don't you go back to your little girlfriend Thomas. Cause it seems like you want to spend more time with her." I said. Tears came at the rim of my eyes and I tried walking away. Thomas pulled me to him and pushed his lips onto mine. I tried to pull away but he was much stronger than me.

I finally got out of his grasp and slapped his arm.

"What the hell thomas!" I yelled at him. He just stood there staring at me.

"You can't just kiss my pain away." I said and ran off.

I spent the rest of the day laying down in my room. I heard he guys talking about how the girl it awake and wants me to try to calm her down. I said no cause I was tired. They said she got so worked up they had to knock her out. But I finally agreed to talk to her tomorrow.
