Chapter 27

"I don't know what to do Ally." I cried into the shorter girls arms, as she rubbed my back soothingly. I knew we hadn't been as close lately but the fact she didn't even come to see me when she was upset actually hurt me, a lot.

"Lauren, I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt you, her and Dinah have always been like sisters, did you ask what happened?" Ally said, as I silently shook my head. "Well, maybe it was something she thought, at the time, you were best off not knowing." Ally told me, as I carefully allowed get words to sink in. Ally was right.

"You're right, Ally. Ugh, I always fuck everything up." I said, covering my face with hands, crying. "Hey, don't cry Laur." Ally tried to soothe me, but how was I supposed to stop crying?

My phone went off in my pocket, and I quickly took it out, hoping it was Camila. It's wasn't. It was my mom telling me I had to head home.
"I'm going to have to talk to her tomorrow, I have to go home now. Thank you for your help Ally." I told the shorter, yet older girl, appreciatively. "No problem, Laur. Text me if you need me, okay?" She said, walking me to the front door. Ally gave me a hug goodbye, before I set off walking back home.

That night I lay in bed thinking about everything. Camila was my whole life, I love her so much, so much that I want to spend the rest of my life with her.
I wasn't going to let her slip away from me, not this easily.

"Lauren! You're a natural! The way you're playing, you'd think you'd been playing basketball all your life!" The Coach said to me as morning practice finished up, and all the girls grabbed their water bottles heading towards the shower rooms. "Thanks, I guess, I'm just a quick learner." I admitted, grabbing my own water bottle and taking a big gulp of water, trying to cool myself down.

"If you keep this up over the next few days, I might just put you in the game next week." Coach told me, causing me to look at him, my eyes full of fear. "No...you can't, I mean, I've just got here, that wouldn't be fair on the other girls, you can't bench someone who's been here longer than I have." I said, as coach shrugged his shoulders, scribbling something down on his clipboard. "I make the decisions, Jauregui, all the girls know that. Don't worry, they're all team orientated, none of them will hold it against you." He told me, as I bit my lip nervously. "Well, that's all, you can go and shower now, first break will be starting soon, you might want to hurry." He told me as I turned around go walk away. "Oh, and Lauren?" He called, as I turned, once again. "Yeah, Coach?" I asked, as he looked me right in the eye. "I want you at practice tonight, no excuses." He warned me, as I internally groaned. "But my-"
"No buts, Jauregui. You're here tonight, and that's final." He warned me, as I turned around, silently cursing to myself under my breath.

Once I'd finished showering and gotten changed, I ran outside, looking frantically for Camila. I saw her sitting with Dinah on the field, and I sprinted quickly towards them. They looked up once my presence was known, as Dinah gave me a smile, but Camila quickly looked down to the grass. "Camz...please can we talk?" I asked, as I waited for her response. She just shrugged her shoulders. "Mila, I really think you should go and talk to her." Dinah said, as Camila just looked at Dinah. "But Dinah, I-" Dinah didn't let Camila finish, and instead stood up. "I'm going to find Mani and Ally. I'll catch you both later." Dinah said, as I said goodbye, and quickly sat down beside Camila, occupying Dinah's previous spot.

"Why didn't you want to talk to me?" I asked her, picking at the grass. "I...I'm scared Lauren." Camila told me, finally looking at me. "Scared of what? And what the fuck is that bruise on your face off?" I asked, stroking her bruised cheek gently with my fingertips, and Camila leaned into my touch, seemingly feeling soothed by my hand.

"I'm scared...that you want to break up with me." Camila told me, my heart shattering. "Camila, no...I would never-there's no way. What makes you think that?" I asked, as Camila shrugged. "I heard you at Dinahs last night...you didn't want to see me." Camila told me, instantly making me feel bad.
"Camz, I swear I would have but, Dinah told me you were there...I felt bad that you didn't come to me for help...I didn't think you wanted to see me...why didn't you come and see me?" I asked, as Camila gulped lightly.

"My mom...I asked her about Josh...I told her I knew...and she lost it. She slapped me straight across my face. I knew if I came and told you last night, you'd go off it with my mom." Camila admitted, as I felt my blood boiling. She's right, I was going to go off it with Sinu. "Lauren, don't, please don't." Camila begged, seemingly feeling me instantly tense up. "See doesn't have the right to slap you, Camila." I said, angrily. "I know, but Lauren, it'll make it worse, for me, please don't." Camila begged, as I began to calm down. "Okay...but only because you asked me not to." I said, still feeling angry with Sinu.

"So um...what did you want to talk about?" Camila asked me, as now, it was my turn to shrug my shoulders.
"I just wanted to make sure we were still okay. I don't want to ever loose you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, you're all I want in life...you're all I need." I admitted stupidly, scared to look at Camila.
"Please, just tell me, were still together, right?" I asked, as Camila leaned closer towards me, taking my lips in her own.

She pulled away, smiling sheepishly at me, her cheeks flushed. "Does that answer your question?" She asked, as I smirked, shaking my head, no. "No, I think you'll have to kiss me again, just to get the point across clearly." I told her, as Camila laughed at me, before once again, kissing me softly on the lips.
