Oh my gosh!  Can you believe I have another chapter up!  *Pats self on back*   In this chapter it talks about a previous date that Scott and Kayla had.  If you are interested in reading (or refreshing you mind of) the date it's chapter 11 (I think)!  It's kind of fun to reread because you can see how far  their relationship has come.  As always I didn't read through this...I'm editing later!

“Where are we going?”  Kayla asked as Scott took hold of her hand and led her down a grassy hill.  It wasn’t too late yet but the sun was hanging low in the sky.

“I thought we’d try to amend our first date?”  Scott answered as he led Kayla to little wooded area where a picnic blanket was already stretched across the ground.

“Our first date?”  Kayla asked.  For a moment she didn’t know what he was talking about and then it suddenly dawned on her.  The date that she told him she would never be with him.  The date she had told him he was too stuck on himself to enjoy life.  The date he rolled down the hill and pretended not to care.  Kayla suddenly blushed.  That felt like another life now.

“Oh, that one.”  Kayla added in a quiet voice.

Scott led Kayla to the blanket and they both sat down.  “Shall we begin at the beginning?”  He asked as he pulled began pulling things from the picnic basket.  “I prepared all of the food by myself.”

Kayla examined the Tupperware bowl Scott placed on the blanket.  There was no store label or barcode to be seen…just freshly prepared macaroni salad.

“It looks really good.  Much better than that store bought stuff you brought last time.”  Kayla told Scott as he continued to pull home cooked food from the picnic basket.

“I promise it was all me.  My cook played no part in any of this food.”  Scott boasted.

“Wow, I can say I’m certainly impressed.  Now all we have to do is taste it and see if it’s edible.” Kayla joked.

Scott rummaged through the basket and pulled out two long silver candlesticks…the same ones from their first date.  Again he rummaged through the basket and pulled out two red long stemmed roses.  He gently set the roses on the plates he had set out earlier.

“Instead of sandwiches I made…” Scott said as he pulled out a small baking pan and set it on the blanket.  He pulled back the tinfoil and revealed a small lasagna that was still steaming.  Then without hesitation he pulled out a loaf of French bread.  “I didn’t make this.” He added.

“It looks and smells wonderful Scott.”  Kayla said with a smile.  He smiled back.

As they started to eat their meal the sun set lower in the sky.  “Kayla.”  Scott finally broke the silence.  “We need to talk.”

Kayla nodded.  She knew that this was coming but it didn’t mean she wanted to talk about anything.  Especially what happened last night.

“Kayla…my mom.”  Scott started out.  He stopped and took a drink of his sparkling water he had poured into long stemmed wine glasses.

“I know she doesn’t approve of me.”  Kayla quickly told him.

“She basically had my wedding with Tori planned.  So obviously when she walked in on us she was a little shocked, to say the least.

“I don’t know that she’ll ever find room for me.  She was very upset last night.”  Kayla said.  She felt the need to be very open with her feelings and at the moment she couldn’t see Scott’s mother ever liking her…or approving of her.
