I never thought it could be so bright -
a thousands flashes of stark white light
and the stars pin-wheeling across the sky
as the universe sings, "Goodnight, goodnight!"
"Stay with me, Atara. Goddamit, stay with me!"
My mind is numb, my body is pain.
I've got nothing to lose, nothing to gain.
There's really no reason for me to stay
and the darkness tempts me to float away.
"Shit, Atara! Fuck."
Just beneath me rests the ground.
How nice and silent is the sound
when it calls to me, "Come on down!"
I'm ready. I'm ready. Take me now.
"Why the fuck did you shoot her?! Are you insane?! What were you thinking?!"
Through darkening eyes I can barely see
the stars I saw, now covering me.
The night, the light – here I am free
and my soul drifts out to a midnight sea.
"Oh God, the blood..."
Starless sky and flashing light,
The universe sings:
Goodnight.
Goodnight.
