"It felt like we'd been living in that darkness all our lives. But I don't think, at that point, that I really knew anything -- or anyone. I could have, but whenever I reached for the knowledge something pulled me back. It was like I'd set up an alarm system in my own mind. Whenever I got too close to remembering, alarms started blaring, like my former self was warning me of something."

"Warning you of what?"

"I never found out. Like I've said, it's all still blurry. We never got our memories back entirely and I'm not sure we ever will."
