"And that was the first time you saw her? Really saw her?"
"Yes."
"What were you thinking at that point?"
"That I had to keep her alive. That I wouldn't be able to cope if she died."
"You're saying your feelings towards her were already very strong, but you'd only known each other for a few hours."
"Yeah. I didn't know how but she felt familiar – more than familiar. I knew I had to do something to save her but I didn't know what. I was panicking. We had no med kit, no shelter or beds, no tools of any sort. We didn't even have any food or water."
"Then what did you do?"
"I snapped."
