Sonic the Hedgehog x Reader: Two Hearts Become One (Sequel to *My Brave Hero*)

Protecting the One's Closest to His Heart: Part 2

Y/N's Pov.

I knew that look in Sonic's eyes. He had went into his 'dark' form. The last time this happened, Scourge nearly got killed. And not to mention that he's both in his super and 'dark' form, meaning that he has three times more power than when in his normal form. This had both it's pros and cons. The pro is that Sonic would be able to handle both Shadow and Scourge at once. The con, though, is that if Sonic can't control himself... he might hurt them more than he intended. Suddenly, Sonic had just vanished. He reappeared behind Scourge, knocking towards the wall, making him drop me. Thankfully, Sonic had caught and placed me on the ground, before continuing to attack Shadow and Scourge. In the meantime, I helped Tails, Amy, and Knuckles out.
"Guys? Come on, wake up." I tried to wake them. Knuckles slowly opened his eyes and rubbed the back of his head, followed by Tails and Amy. I sighed, relieved, "I'm so glad that you guys are okay."
"Yeah, we are- What's going on with Sonic?" Knuckles asked.
"It looks like he went into his 'dark' form, yet slightly different." Tails added.
"That's because he was in his super form when he went 'dark,' so his power is much stronger than ever. But..." I dragged on.
"But what?" Amy questioned.
"The last time I saw Sonic like this, he had lost his temper and nearly..." I didn't feel like finishing the sentence, but they already knew what I meant.
"Are you saying that it could happen again?!" Amy exclaimed, "Even if Shadow and Scourge are the bad guys, do they really deserve to be... you know." We all knew what Amy meant.
"There must be something that we can do." Knuckles suggested.
"We can't." Tails sighed, "Sonic won't turn back unless he calms down, and he has a VERY good reason to be VERY angry with those two hedgehog now. The only thing we can do now is leave."
"L-leave?" I stammered.
"If we stay here, Sonic could destroy this whole place, and we might get hurt. It's not safe." Tails added, "Plus Sonic told us to get you out of here." I was about to object, but I knew that Tails had a good point. We quickly tried to get out of the base, but Shadow wouldn't have it. Close to the exit, I tripped and fell down.
"Hold on Y/N!" Amy was coming to help me.
"Not now you won't! CHAOS SPEAR!!!" Shadow used an attack on the ceiling, and several rocks fell down, blocking the exit, trapping me inside. I backed up against the rocks, as Shadow started to approach me. I lost my balance when backing up and fell down. Shadow stopped walking mid-way though. I didn't get why, until I realized that he had a ball of energy in his hands.
"You'll pay for ruining our plans! CHAOS SPEAR!!!" Shadow shot an attack above me, making more rocks collapse fall. They were going to fall right onto me.
"HELP!!!" I cried out, shutting my eyes. I waited for the pain, but it never came. I opened my eyes slowly to see Sonic above me. He must've destroyed the rocks before they could hit me. Suddenly, he rushed towards Shadow and gripped him by the neck, choking him. Even though Shadow just tried to kill me, I didn't want Sonic to harm anyone like that.
"Sonic, please stop!" I begged him, making him turn his head and look at me. I stood up and ran over to him, embracing him, while Sonic still had a good grip on Shadow.
"Please stop, Sonic." I repeated, on the verge of tears, "This isn't you. Come back to us. Come back to me." I wrapped my arms around his neck and refused to let go. Sonic's clear eyes grew wide for a moment, before slowly turning back to their normal emerald-green. His fur went back to being blue. He dropped Shadow and he turned back into his normal shade of black and red, and passed out. Sonic, then, returned my embrace.
"Y/N..." I heard him ask, "What happened?" As I heard him speak, I couldn't stop the tears from coming down any longer.
"Y/N, please don't cry." Sonic said.
"Don't worry Sonic," I told him, "These are happy tears. My brave hero has come back to me." I pulled him into a kiss. Sonic's eyes grew wide for a second, before returning to kiss, tears also streaming down his face. He was back... my Sonic was back.
