It has only been one day of our vacation and I had a sickening apprehensive feeling. I can't figure out the main cause of it but my speculation entirely focuses around one being- the selfish jerk who can trample on other's feelings and act as if everything is okay. But whenever I see him, spark of warmth builds on which is infuriating and at the same time nostalgic.
"We are going to that convention we mentioned before. Make sure to wear this, I don't want you falling right in the middle of the throng." Mom explained while putting her hands in my suitcase as she pulled my white and blue striped sneakers.
"O-Kay," I mumbled with mouthful of cookies."Wow! I can see variety of people down there,"Jess exclaimed sarcastically ignoring me, while I continued lecturing her aboutwearing heels. Jess has not taken my words and had insisted to wear her newheels that she bought the other day.
"Su, will you help me? I am having trouble keeping myself stable," she wasliterally begging me while being vigilant not to break her ankles.
"Serve you right. Didn't I tell-?"
"Sorry, Su. I accept my fault. Now can you first help me."
"As long as you know," I let out a smile and helped her to get down the ramp.
We barely made it there when mom spoke," Honey, I think we need some snacks tofeed on. It's too crowded and we may not be able to get out once we take ourseat. So can you and Jess go and get something to eat before we sit."
I nodded as she handed me the money.
"We will be sitting near that aisle. Come back fast before seats get covered."She pointed towards the half-filled seats near the aisle and both the familiesmade their way. Jess turned towards me to head towards the shop when I stoppedher.
"Wait, Miss, where do you think you are going?"
"To buy some snacks."
I looked down and she followed my gaze till it landed on her heels. She gave mea stupid grin and waved her hand assuring me it was fine for her to tag along.
"You stay here, I will go myself."
"But in this crowd you will get lost."
"It's okay and beside if I go with you, we will not only get late but also loseour seats. I will be back, make sure you save me a seat."
I made my way through the crowd and searched for a closest shop. Found it and Iran towards it until I ran into a person.
"I am so sorry," I panicked and looked up to see Allen looking at me. I backeddown a little upon seeing him and apologize again but less frightened now.
"Where are you heading in such hurry?" he asked once he saw my flustered faceand breathing heavily.
"To the shop," I answered with indifferent tone.
"Then I will come with you too."
"No need of that. Anyways our families already went there; you may want to lookfor them before the seats get taken." I turned around and dusted my jeans whena strong yet reliable hand took my hand and led me towards the shop, making myheart pound a little.
