"Do you think apologizing can make the past a beautiful memory?" The words left my mouth and Allen tensed up a little and walked away. That's the jerk that I had fallen for.
"Hey, Al," I called him from the other end of the football field. I waved at him and gestured him to come over here. "Hey, Su, everything's okay right?" he came over with concerned look. "Everything's fine and well. I wanted to give you this." I handed him sandwich and banana milk that he likes. "I and Vi had an extra lunch so we decided to give to it to you."
He smiled and pulled my cheeks, "Thanks for that." He waved bye and went back to his group. Me and Vi always argued about boys; her about getting easily wooed by boys and me about remaining stagnant around only one guy.
I went through my locker to take books according to my time table when long, strong and cold fingers covered my eyes. "Al, it's not funny. The bell is going to ring any time." He let go off my eyes and he complained lazily, "You always guess it correctly. Can't you just let me win some time?" I laughed and shook my head. "No, I will not let you take such easy victory." He laughed at me for being childish. We talked about his next lesson and made fun of our Biology sir's accent while locking my locker. "Wanna eat ice cream after school?" he proposed. "Your treat," I told him and fled to the class."Can I bring Vi with us?" I asked Al when he exited from his class. He shrugged and said whatever. That usually means 'okay'. Vi's mother had an important meeting and was unable to pick her up from the school. Al ordered two chocolate ice creams and one strawberry flavored ice cream for Vi. She asked to pay for her ice cream herself but Al paid for all of the ice creams. "You should be like Su; making me pay every time," he said to Vi as he patted my head. "Not funny," I stuck my tongue out at him and ran away.
It was rather gloomy and I had a weird feeling that signified something bad was going to happen. I brushed off the feeling as due to lack of sleep the earlier night. Today was the last day of our middle school and next year I, Vi and Al will be entering high school. Earlier that night when I was doing the dishes, mom said something about Allen starting his high school in other school. Since Allen hadn't mention anything about transferring school, I didn't take it seriously.
We didn't study anything and the school joined in celebrating the last day of us, the seniors in the school. The school held a feast and there were dances and celebration was in the air. Everyone was enjoying a lot and for the first time in the year, teachers and students acted like friends and took advantage of the day. I looked for Vi as I wanted us to go together to look for Al; since it was getting dark I wanted Allen to drop me at home. I looked in the main school hallway and caught glimpse of Al standing there and he appeared to be with someone. Unable to see the other person from where I was standing; I went little closer to him only to see other person none other than Vi. My whole world shattered at that moment and the affection Al showed to me suddenly turned into a big ugly lie when he kissed Vi on the lips.
"V-Vi?" I choked on my words and she turned towards me with guilt and ran away before I can utter anything. Allen on the other hand was not at all surprised and was instead acting as if that was what he wanted. "W-what was t-that, Al?" I asked him without showing the pain in my voice. He continued walking without answering. "Al? Al!" he stopped and spoke, "Don't call me that and stop being clingy; it disgusts me and burdens me." With those words, I never saw him again.
