Fort Beyond
"GO!"
They ducked through the trees just outside of Agoura Hills, California. Bullets shot after them and the barking of wild dogs echoed around them as they ran through the forest. They'd gotten carefree in their doings and now they were in a bad position. The government had some interesting new technology with them and it was going to make running away from them much harder than it was before.
"We were very stupid! Very, very stupid!" Ryan called angrily as they leaped over a fallen tree. Smoke was rising from the buildings in Agoura.
"We have to kill them," Takbir yelled. They used what little speed they had left to propel themselves up the trunks of the trees around them. They had gloves each equipped with spikes that enabled them to climb quickly. They also had spikes in the toes of their boots. They scrambled up the trees and hid in the leaves. The elites ran by underneath them. Maybe their dog senses weren't that good. Mike Shinoda breathed a sigh of relief as they vanished into the trees. He looked over at his two friends who were sitting in trees next to him.
"What's the plan?" Ryan asked, "I mean, we're kind of wanted now."
"We need to get to a safe house," Mike decided, "How about the one in Frisco?"
"Sounds like a plan. Let's just get a car and go," Ryan said sarcastically. None of the cars worked anymore. They'd all stopped since the government came through and filtered the gas from any stations and cars they found.
"We can walk. It'll take a few days but we can get there."
"I'm with Mike, we need to get to a place they don't know us," Tak said. Ryan nodded.
"Alright. Then let's get going. Frisco is definitely a walk."
They clambered down the trees. Over the time that the government had stopped protecting the innocent, Mike had joined up with Ryan and Tak. They were all interested in the same thing: stopping this from going too far. They had tried to protect the innocent but there was nothing they could do. They were always forced to run. Eventually, they decided to spend their time in the woods, only emerging at certain times to destroy government vehicles and troops. The elites were something else. They hadn't met with any people who could turn into animals. Now they're only thought was to kill the government.
"We're going to need more people if we want to destroy the government. I mean think about it, we can't even kill dogs."
"We'll get there. Anything we do right now can help."
"Radio broadcast," Tak said. They quieted down so they could hear it on the walkie-talkie they kept.
"Hello, citizens of the nation," President Mark Wakefield's voice came through the speaker, "It is my pleasure to announce that things are looking brighter in our future. For those of you in danger, do not fear. We will protect you. The people rising up against us are the ones you need to fear for they will not keep you satisfied."
"Great it's him," Ryan sighed.
"All people reported of acting suspiciously or caught in acts of rebellion will be arrested, tried, and killed if found guilty," said a different voice, "If I were you, I'd be careful."
"Oh and Mr. Bennington," Mike snarled, "What a pleasure it is to hear your voice again."
"It must be because of us. We were finally affecting them," Tak said, "That's why they're going to hunt down all the rebels."
"Well then we definitely need to get to that safe house."
"If we get caught by them, they'll kill us," Ryan agreed. Mike nodded. He almost wanted to get caught. If he got caught, he'd be taken to D.C. That was where Mark Wakefield was. If he could get there, he could escape and kill them. Then the world would have a new leader, someone who could put things into order. And then he'd have his way with the corrupt. He smirked at the thought of hanging the President. The thing was, he hated Mark Wakefield, but he despised Chester Bennington. If he got his hands on Chester, he'd make the man suffer for what he'd done. What he'd done to him.
Fires exploded around him as he dashed through the streets, trying to find his house. He was only eighteen years old. He had to find his parents and his brother. His brother was only fourteen. He wasn't even old enough to have a license yet. People were screaming, crying, and trying to escape. He ducked behind the houses to get to his own. He found it and tried to pull the door open. No luck. He grabbed a rock from the backyard and threw it through the glass window on the first floor. He jumped through, landing on the glass. And that's when he heard the yelling. The yelling that was then cut off by two gun shots. He ran towards the other end of his house into the kitchen. His father and mother were both dead, laying on the floor, blood pooled around them. His brother knelt on the floor and a man stood behind him with the gun to his head. He had bright emerald eyes and a smirk that told Mike that no matter what, he couldn't do anything to stop what was about to happen.
"Please don't," Mike whispered. The man smiled slightly and shook his head before pulling the trigger. Mike closed his eyes knowing that his family was dead around him and he had no way of bringing them back.
Chester would get what he deserved. Mike would make sure of it. The man had destroyed his family in cold blood. He'd killed them for no reason. Ryan and Tak were both looking at him but he ignored it. They knew what had happened to him. They knew that he would do anything to kill Chester.
"So, who wants to play 'Fifty Ways to Kill Chester Bennington?'" Ryan asked with a smirk. Mike returned the smile but shook his head.
"Sorry Ryan," he said with a laugh, "But there's only one way to kill him. Slowly and painfully."
"That's true."
"Now let's go."
They moved at a jog now. They wanted to get to San Francisco as quickly as they could. The elites would have to come to a city that wasn't destroyed and if Chester was with them, he wouldn't be leaving with them.
It did take a day and a half of constant walking and they were exhausted but they made it to the outskirts of San Francisco. They were about to head into the city when they heard a voice.
"Hey you guys!"
Mike turned around to see a single figure heading towards them. He put his hand on his knife but the guy raised his hands.
"Not going to hurt you. Where are you from?"
"Agoura," Ryan said, "Around there."
"Cool. My name's Joe Hahn," the guy said, "And....well...you seem to be the type we're looking for."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm part of a small organization called the Rebellion," Joe said, "We're looking for people to join up so we can rebel against the government."
"I'm in," Mike said immediately. There was no hesitation. He needed this. He needed to be part of something like this.
"Great. You can't mention this to anyone since it is really secret and we're going to end up dead if we get caught."
"No problem."
"Cool. Then let's go. I'll take you back to my place and we can start on our way to Captain Farrell's place."
They began their walk after Joe. Mike was a little worried about this but he knew that if Joe was some government official, he'd most likely be dead by now. He'd already admitted to wanting to rebel against the government.
"Who is Captain Farrell?"
"He's the leader of the Rebellion. He's the reason all of this is going to happen."
Mike nodded slightly, "So he'll be able to get to me close to the government?"
"Why do you want to get close to the government?" Joe asked curiously as they walked into a house and then down a set of stairs.
"Because one of them killed my parents and I want revenge," Mike growled.
"I think the government has killed all our parents," Joe said thoughtfully as they began trekking through tunnels, "Everyone wants a bit of revenge."
"I want specific revenge. The man who killed my family is an elite by the name of Chester Bennington."
"Ah, I see your point. But you'll need to talk to Captain Farrell about that."
They entered another tunnel and headed through the dark again.
"So where are we going?" Ryan asked.
"Heading towards what used to be L.A. He lives in one of our safe houses."
"Ok. And how do we know we can trust this Farrell guy?"
"He wants a rebellion. If you want to fight, then he's the right guy."
"Alright," Mike said with a smile, "Take me to him."
