Make Me Forget
He grabbed the fallen rebel and hoisted him over his shoulder before hurrying out of the room and out the back. He tied the rebel up and let him get raised up to the copter first before he took the grenade out of his bag and popped it. He threw it towards the bunker and grabbed the ladder that hung down from the helicopter. It lifted him up and as soon as he was inside safely, the bunker blew up. He saw the rebels running out the front emptyhanded. That was alright. He had caught one of them and he could make a demonstration of him.
"Commander Bennington, we are returning to D.C."
"Correct," Chester said quietly as the copter took off. Recently, Scott had been taking field missions with him and it was bothering him. If Scott died on a field mission, what would happen to him? Chester liked him. He was one of the only people that he was really close to. He sat on the edge of the copter with his gun across his lap. They flew over cities that were on fire. He looked down at one of the streets that were covered in people who were all yelling. Officials were trying to settle them down but it wasn't working. Chester sighed before reaching for his bag. Another grenade. Another click as it was opened. He sent it hurling down to the streets where the riots were occurring. The bang was huge. Blood splattered the buildings and the streets as they continued on their way. Soon enough, they were pulling up into D.C and Chester stepped out of the plane. He grabbed the rebel he'd captured and dragged him out after him.
"Take him to C100," he said as he dropped the man on the ground for the others to pick up. He walked out of the landing bay and into the capitol building. Now he would have to report to Mark. He swallowed nervously, he was always nervous when he reported to the president. The man wasn't happy with him after the last mission. He winced as he thought of it. Even Scott had disapproved of his performance in that mission. He sat down outside the president's office and waited. A minute later, the president opened the door and motioned for him to come in. He stood and walked inside the room. He reached the middle of the room and then slowly knelt down. Mark turned to face him.
"Report, Commander Bennington."
"The rebels attacked the bunker in East Ridge," Chester said, "We captured one but the others escaped."
Mark nodded slightly and then waved his hand. Chester stood up slowly and bowed his head.
"I want you to make a statement with that rebel," Mark said and Chester nodded.
"Yes sir. What will you have me do?"
"Whatever you want. I'll leave it up to you. You can torture him privately or in public. I'd like at least one public demonstration."
"I can do that sir."
"Get information from him."
"I will sir."
"Kneel Chester."
Chester knelt down again on the ground and his body tensed as Mark walked around him. He'd only been told to kneel when he was going to be punished for failure. He hadn't failed had he? He'd gotten the rebel. And then the door was opening. He didn't look up, for he had done that once and been scolded.
"Jared."
"Mark."
"Jared, this is my most trusted elite, Chester Bennington. He will be able to assist you with whatever you need."
"Alright, up, boy."
Chester stood up slowly and looked at the man in front of him. The guy wasn't that much older than him but acted like it. He had brown hair that waved to one side in the air. He had blue eyes and was taller than him. Chester bowed to him.
"Sir."
"Alright, he'll work," Jared nodded and Mark smiled slightly.
"Good. Chester, tomorrow you will be going on a mission with Jared tomorrow morning. You will be using the gas that Scott has been making to try and flush out the rebels. They will most likely be hiding in some city in Colorado by that time."
"Okay sir," Chester said softly. It was quiet and Mark nodded at him to leave.
"You're dismissed."
He walked out of the office and walked over towards the labs. He opened the door and saw Scott standing in the center of the room, pulling up holographic screens and moving things around. He walked in slowly and Scott turned to him. When he was about ten feet away, he stopped and bowed his head. Scott was the only guy he willingly bowed to.
"I told you before, you don't bow to me," Scott said as he took a few steps forward.
"You are my superior. It is right of me to do so," Chester said before looking up at Scott and giving him a tight hug. Scott laughed and ruffled his hair.
"Something bothering you?"
"No. You and I are going to have to beat one of the rebels bloody in a few days," Chester said with a smile, "The one who shot me."
"Then I will have a grand time," Scott said softly, "No one hurts my Chester and gets away with it."
Chester smiled and then leaned forward slightly, "I...I have to go. Duty calls. I'm playing with the rebel today."
"Alright. Oh, Chester, how about tonight....you stop by my room yea?"
"Alright."
Chester headed out of the lab with a small smile on his face as he headed down towards the prisons. Where had he told them to take the rebel? C100? Sounded right. He walked to the door and opened it up. The rebel looked up at him and his gaze hardened. Chester noticed that they'd chained him to the wall. He smiled before shutting the door and locking it before pulling a chair up and sitting down. He sat down and studied the young man in front of him. Black hair and dark eyes. But he knew this rebel too well. He'd killed everyone that mattered to him.
"Why are you here?" the man asked."I'm here because you've made this personal."
"No. You made this personal. When you killed my family."
"I was doing my job."
"You are sick. You're screwed up if you think this is all fine!"
Chester stood up and stalked forward so he was in front of the rebel. He gazed up in to his eyes and Chester smirked.
"You know what I like about you Mike? The fact that even after all this time, you still are so fueled by revenge."
Mike glared at him and then something changed in him. Instead of a scowl, a grin formed on his face.
"Well you know what Chester? Maybe I'm not as fueled for revenge as you think. Maybe I've wanted you to get me alone like this."
"Stop trying to deny it."
"No...you see Chester, I just wanted to be alone with you so I could see your face when I told you that I killed your boys."
Chester felt his heart shatter in one second as he stood there. Mike laughed softly and shook his head.
"You see, when I found out it was your kids, I was so happy. I wanted to destroy everything you cared about just like you did to me."
The thing was, Chester couldn't even remember his boys. He didn't know their names. He didn't know what they looked like. He felt tears blur the edge of his vision and in an instant, they were on his face.
"What's this? The great Chester Bennington....crying? Should we broadcast that as well as the death threat to my friends?"
"Was it quick?" Chester whispered, "Did you at least kill them quickly?"
"Quick? What's the fun in that? No, I did the same thing as you did. I killed one of them and made the other watch. He begged me not to and it got annoying so I cut his tongue out."
"SHUT UP!" Chester flung the chair into the wall. It broke and splintered. He turned away from Mike, his shoulders shaking and tears running down his face. His boys had been innocent. He knew that they had been killed but not like this. He didn't remember a thing about them but it still hurt. The people he'd cared about the most in his life had been tortured and they hadn't been old. "You've sentenced yourself to a life of pain and suffering and in the end I will kill you! You can join your family."
"You have a gun Chester, just think about it. One pull of the trigger and you could see them again."
Chester stormed to the door and left immediately. As soon as he was out, he leaned against the cold metal and took a deep breath. He couldn't let Mike get to him like that. He checked his watch and saw it was almost nine at night. He headed out of the prisons and up towards the rooms. He had his own room but that's not where he was heading. He walked a few more rooms down and knocked.
"Who is it?"
"It's me."
"Chester! Come on in, door's unlocked."
Chester walked in and sighed when he saw Scott propped up on the couch flipping through his screen. He wandered over and sat down beside him. Scott put one arm around him and smiled before turning off the screen.
"Something on your mind?"
"The prisoner....the one that I brought here. He killed my boys."
Scott's face softened and he brought his other arm around to hold him. Chester had only talked to Scott about how much he wanted to remember his boys. He turned and let himself be engulfed in Scott's embrace. Scott ruffled his hair gently and sighed.
"I'm sorry Chester."
Chester nodded and then gripped Scott's shoulder, "Make me forget."
"You didn't have to ask. I would've done it anyway," Scott said softly. Clothes ended up on the ground. Hands grasped at every available inch of skin. Moans filled the room. Chester wouldn't remember anything in the morning, he never did but that was alright. Right now, he just needed to forget that he had lost both his boys to the prisoner downstairs. And Scott was helping him do just that.
