Epilogue

Three years later.....

Dave sighed as he walked out of the Capitol building. Everything was running smoothly. He grinned as he walked out to the hill where his friends were waiting. Linsey smiled at him as he approached and he gave her a hug and a kiss. Chester and Mike sat together, on the ground. They had gotten married three years ago and Isaiah now had both parents back. As well as Talinda and Larry.

"Uncle Dave! Uncle Dave!"

Dave snickered as he reached down and picked up the bouncing three year old, "Hey Paul, how are you buddy?"

Larry walked over with Talinda on his arm and smiled. They'd had their son at the end of the year when everything had happened. Of course they'd both agreed that Paul was the right name for him. Dave had gotten a custom made jersey for the boy that said 'Bono' on the back and Larry had teared up at that. Jeremy was sitting by Ryu, Brad, and Joe. They'd all started working in the city, hiring people who needed jobs because of destruction caused. And then there was Austin and his wife. Austin had been working on a way for Chester to get his sight back with a group of scientists. And then Scott and Pierre. They'd been extremely happy together. Everything had worked out really well.

"Hey Chester!" Austin called. They all gathered around as Austin walked towards Chester.

"Yea?"

"I did it."

Chester's eyes lit up, "Really!?"

"Yea," Austin smiled. Chester leaped up and hugged the other man.

"Oh my god! Thank you so much!" he said. Dave grinned. That was good.

"What color do you want?"

"Any color?"

"Yea," Austin nodded.

Chester glanced over at Mike and smiled, "I think emerald green will do nicely."

Austin frowned, "Really?"

"Yea," Chester nodded, "I think it'll be perfect."

Austin smiled slightly, "If that's what you want."

Chester grinned and nodded. Mike laughed softly and hugged Chester tightly.

"I'm so happy for you, sweetheart!"

So Chester would get his sight back. Dave smiled as he glanced at the setting sun. It was a really wonderful day to get such good news on. But apparently, they weren't done yet. Pierre stepped forward with a small smile on his face.

"Not to break up the good news for you Chaz, but I have some of my own," Pierre smiled, "Scott and I are engaged."

Scott laughed softly and nodded in agreement. Chester grinned and hugged them both.

"Oh, I'm so happy for you two!"

"Congratulations guys!" Dave called and Pierre nodded. The younger man pulled something out of his pocket.

"But I wanted to present this here."

Scott looked up in surprise. Pierre smiled at him before holding it out to him.

"You always said that you didn't need an animal telling you what to do. You didn't want to be a representation of an animal. But what if that animal was a representation of you? What if you were in control of it?" Pierre asked softly, "Please, Scott, you deserve one just like the rest of us."

Dave watched Scott slowly reach out and take the small band from Pierre's hand. So Pierre had made a gauntlet? He watched Scott fit it over his hand and it clicked into place on his wrist. Pierre smiled slightly.

"Try it out?"

Scott looked slightly nervous but Chester was right next to him.

"Try it," Chester smiled. Scott slowly pressed the button and his body jerked forward, transforming and leaving a huge German Shepard in his place. The dog barked happily and rubbed against Pierre's legs. They all laughed.

"This is it then?" Linsey asked him and Dave smiled.

"Isn't this what you wanted? It's over. We were the rebellion."

"You were a hero."

"No.....," Dave smiled sadly, "We were all heroes. Even the ones not here with us right now."

"That's true."

"I'm glad you weren't with me."

"Why?"

"Because, with you, I would've stuck to a plan or something. I would've valued you above all my friends. I wouldn't have been able to protect them."

"You did a good job," Linsey smiled at him. Chester was being tackled by dog-Scott while Mike laughed. Pierre was grinning. Everything was going to be alright. They were all one big family now. He sighed softly.

"There were more though. I should've been able to save them all."

"No....I know it was hard but there were going to be losses. Look at Chester, he lost his son. Mike lost his family. Everyone lost someone. But we're all here together now. That's what matters."

"You're right," Dave nodded as the sun started to vanish. All the guys had transformed into their animals and were rolling around and playing in the grass. Isaiah was getting a ride from Chester who was being chased by Mike. Pierre had Scott pinned in the grass. "You're absolutely right."

Because even after all of this, they'd made it through. He smiled slightly and felt tears in his eyes. They'd done it. They'd all made it. The guys appeared in the grass laughing and the two couples shared a kiss while Isaiah made gagging noises and Paul thought that was hilarious so he copied him.

"Isaiah's got a little brother again."

"I think that'll be good for him," Dave nodded slightly, "I think this is good for all of us."

"Hey guys!" Mike shouted.

Everyone turned to look at him. Mike grinned and spread his arms.

"Happy Independence Day!"

Fireworks launched into the sky and exploded. They watched the colors explode and Dave shook his head. Everything was perfect. So maybe he could call himself a hero for a little while. This would obviously be in the history books for years and years to come. He'd be known for generations. They all would be. Chester, Pierre, and Scott came running up from out of sight so they must've been the ones to start the fireworks. They stood on the hill and watched. It was a good way to celebrate finally being able to start anew. He grinned as Austin handed Chester one last firework. They lit it and after it exploded, the rebellion soldier was left in the smoke. Ryu laughed at that and Mike looked proud. Chester hugged Mike tightly. It made sense after all. They'd been the soldiers of the rebellion. And here they were, at the end of it all. Dave smiled as he remembered what he'd told Brad the day that they decided to head out for D.C.

"What do you think they'll call this?" Isaiah asked softly, "What will they call us?"

The guys glanced around and shrugged. No one really had an idea. Dave smiled and stepped forward before glancing at every one of his friends.

"They'll call us.....the Rebellion."

End.
