Chapter Seven

“Where are they?” demanded the producer impatiently as he glanced at his watch before his eyes lowered towards the two empty seats at the dinning table.

“How should I know? I’m not responsible for them,” replied Alec curtly.

“But—”

“Sir, Mr. Dalton, sir!” cut in a male security guard running towards them. “The security cameras show that there are two young ladies forcing entry into your garage… I think they’re attempting to break into one of your cars—”

“And you tell me this now?” growled Alec, slamming his glass goblet down onto the table, startling half the female contestants. He ignored their shrieks as the goblet shattered in his hand. “Call the rest of security; I want them out of there now!”

The male looked nervously at him, “Sir, I think it’s best if you come with me.”

If Jasmine thought her day couldn’t get any crazier, it just raised couple of a notches when Eva decided that she didn’t want to take a taxi, but complete another one of her ‘bucket list’ by hijacking a car.

“I can’t believe you’re doing this…” muttered Jasmine as she slid into the passenger seat of the Volkswagen, while Eva hotwired the car. “And I can’t believe, I even agreed to this!”

Suddenly the car roared to life and Eva grinned, “I’m sorry, but that’s what happens when you hang out with me. Besides, last time I checked, you thought stealing Alec’s car was a great idea.”

Jasmine scoffed, but didn’t answer. For a moment she stared out the window silently when she suddenly caught sight of three figures running towards them. Alec Dalton was in the lead with a security guard, while a man with a large camera was at the back. From the look of things, Alec didn’t seem too happy, in fact he looked down right pissed. She didn’t want to stick around long enough to find out what he’ll do to her if he caught up. “DRIVE EVA, DRIVE!” screamed Jasmine.

There weren’t any hesitations in her movements as she swiftly backed the car out of the garage and onto the massive driveway. As Eva drove towards the front gates, Jasmine quickly noticed that the gates were closing in rapidly.

“We’re not going to make it!” groaned Jasmine as she placed her hands in front of her eyes.

Eva rolled her eyes while laughing, “Of course we’re going to make it, don’t doubt me,” she said as she stepped hard onto the gas pedal. Immediately the car lurched forward in a breakneck speed towards the closing gates. To say that they just made it past in time was an understatement. They had literally just scraped by the gates, doing a hefty damage to Alec’s car.

“Alright! I got through! Next stop Burger King!” exclaimed Eva.

Jasmine took her hands off her eyes before letting out a sigh of relief when she saw that they were on the main road now. Shakily, she glanced at Eva and spoke, “Never. Do. That. AGAIN! You nearly gave me a heart attack!”

Eva grinned, “That’s what I do best.”

It was that moment that Jasmine realized that there was something strange about Eva. Not many people knew how to break into a garage, hotwire a car and drive like that!

“Ahh! Now this is more like it!” said Eva while resting her legs against a chair as she munched on French fries.
