Chapter Sixteen
“Here is the list of rules you must follow as my sister’s nanny…” said Alec irritably as he shoved the paper into Jasmine’s hand. “And make sure you follow it,” he added coldly before pushing Madeline towards her and leaving without a glance back.
For a moment, Jasmine watched as Alec walked away before looking down at the paper he had given to her.
Rules for Babysitting Madeline:
1. Never ever call her cute
2. Give her what she wants
3. You are obliged to play any games with her
4. Don’t do anything that will provoke her
5. Make sure she stays away from me (Alec) and out of trouble
After reading the short list, Jasmine was starting to think that babysitting Alec Dalton’s little sister would be hell, but within the next second, her guess was proven wrong.
“Man, sometimes I wish my brother can be nicer, but he’s such a butt sometimes,” sighed Madeline, crossing her small arms and shaking her head in disproval, “No wonder he doesn’t have much friends,” she muttered.
Jasmine suddenly looked towards the dark haired girl in surprise. Did Alec’s own sister just diss him?
Madeline looked back at Jasmine, and as if she had just read her mind, she answered, “Well, it’s true! I mean did you ever take a good look at him?” she asked while gesturing into the empty air, “He can be such an annoying moron and he can be so rude sometime, do you really think he has that many friends?”
Jasmine laughed, completely blown away from this little girl’s remarks. She was definitely not the same girl who had cried for her brother a few weeks ago…she was so much more mature, witty and clever. Just as she was about to answer, Madeline cut her off again.
“As a matter of fact, he would be totally lost if Jace, you and I weren’t there for him,” she stated casually.
“Me?” repeated Jasmine in confusion.
“Yeah, you,” said Madeline as she rolled her eyes, “Isn’t it kind of obvious? I’ve been watching you two for a while now and I have to say, it looks like picking on you is his new favourite hobby now... It’s kind of cute really, and although he does act like a big douche bag sometimes, it only proves my theory that he has the hots for you,” giggled Madeline before quickly adding, “Unfortunately, I don’t know when he’ll reach his senses and make a move on you though. It took almost five months to admit to his last girlfriend that he liked her, but it doesn’t have to take that long for you two. All you have to do is tell Alec that you like him and you guys will live happily ever after.”
Jasmine turned slightly red at what Madeline had just said, but had quickly tried to hide it. She was completely blown away from this girl’s miniature speech, but she wasn’t ready to believe that Alec likes her, nor was she ready to believe she had feelings for him either. Hell would blow over before that happens… Shaking her head, she spoke, “Uh sorry, that’s not happening…ever.”
Madeline barely glanced at Jasmine’s facial expression to know that those words were going to come out of her mouth, yet she knew that there was something else that she was trying to hide as well. She sighed heavily, “I know you like him, but you won’t admit it… yet.”
“What are you talking about?” asked Jasmine, trying to put on a confused look.
Without warning, Madeline giggled, “You have that smile…”
