Vic's POV 4 years later
I woke up in the morning to the annoying and repetitive sound of my alarm clock. I slammed my hand down on it to stop it and sat up.
"Morning." my wife of two years as she sat up.
"Good morning Tera." I said back to her and kissed her cheek.
I grabbed my phone off of the bedside table to look at the date.
November first. The date that Blade died. I took Shiloh trick-or-treating last night and the thought that Blade landed in her deathbed at that time four years ago, completely slipped my mind.
I sighed and laid back down. It's crazy to think that Blade has been dead for four years now. And as of last week our little Shiloh is seven.
"What's wrong Vic?" Tera asked and laid down next to me.
"Nothing it's just-"
"November first." Tera said when she realized the date. Tera and Blade were good friends when they were in high school. Tera was even at Blade's funeral.
"Yeah. Four year anniversary for Blade's passing." I sighed.
"Babe you should go visit Blade today. Just you and her and you don't have to worry about me." Tera said and brushed her fingers through my hair.
"Yeah. You know what? I will. I'll do it." I said and got out of bed.
I'm so glad to have Tera. She's so supportive over the fact that I lost my first wife. She helped me get through Blade's death and she's still with me today.
I got my clothes on and brushed my teeth and hair before going downstairs to see Shiloh.
"Hey Shiloh." I said when I saw her sitting at the table.
"Daddy!" she yelled as I swooped her up in the air.
I held her up for a second and just looked at her. Her long brown hair was falling down by her shoulders and the way she smiled as she laughed reminded me so much of Blade.
I brought Shiloh's nose down by my lips and planted a small kiss on her nose to which she giggled.
"Let's get you some breakfast Shi." I said and set her down on my hip so I could walk around. "What do you want?" I asked as I opened cupboards and drawers.
"Cereal!" she yelled.
"What kind?" I asked.
"Ummm..." she said as she thought. She tapped her index finger on her mouth as she thought. Blade used to do the exact same thing. Just tap her finger against her pursed lips. "Reese's Puffs!"
"Reese's Puffs it is." I said after Shiloh snapped me out of my thoughts.
I grabbed the cereal, a bowl and the milk all while holding Shiloh on my hip.
"Alright." I said when it was finished. "All done."
I sat Shiloh at the table and put the cereal down in front of her and watched her eat. Sometimes when I look at Shiloh, all I see is a little mini version of Blade. She has Blade's nose, Blade's ears, Blade's eyes. The only things that she doesn't have from Blade are her lips and her cheeks. She definitely had some of me in there but it's more easy to tell that there's more Blade in there.
Tera came downstairs to me with my favorite acoustic guitar in her hands.
"I figured if you're going to visit Blade you might as well bring this." She said as she handed it to me. I smiled and kissed her softly.
"Thank you darling." I said.
I went outside to my car and carefully put the guitar in back of it.
Once Shiloh was done eating Tera got an outfit for her (a purple Pierce the veil shirt and jeans) and did her hair (curled pigtails. Shiloh's favorite).
I kissed Tera goodbye and walked with Shiloh out to the car. She climbed in back and buckled herself in and I started the car. Shiloh and I jammed to some System of a down on our way to her school. I got Shiloh started on good music at a young age.
"We're here love." I said to Shiloh. I got out of the car and opened up the door for her and made sure she had her backpack and everything.
She hopped out and I knelt down beside her.
"I love you Shi." I said as I gave her a hug and a kiss on the head.
"I love you too daddy." She said back.
"And I love you mommy in heaven." She said as she blew a kiss to the sky. That always makes my day. When she says goodbye to Blade. Even know Blade's not her Shiloh does have a good connection with her. Emotionally that is.
"Bye." I said and kissed her cheek.
"Bye dad." She said. And with she was running into the school with her friends.
I got back in the car and stated driving down to the place where Blade was buried.
Once I got there I grabbed my guitar out of the trunk and sat down by Blade's grave stone.
"Hey baby." I said as I tuned my guitar. "So remember all those years ago when I promised you I'd write you a song? Well it's finally finished. I really hope you like it." I closed my eyes and I could see Blade with her massive angel wings sitting right in front of me with the biggest smile on her face. I smiled back as a tear ran down my cheek. I opened my eyes back up and strummed the first few chords.
"It's called, I'm low on gas and you need a jacket." I said. I sang my heart out. And I could see Blade smiling with joy as she listened.
The End.
