it had been six years since the day i was charged as guilty and one year since i was free to live my life again. i wasn't convicted to lifetime just because the identities of the dead people were known. it was all i could ask for; to live a normal life again.
alex helped me a lot more than i could ever imagine. she was an exquisite woman with a brilliant mind and i always wondered why she contacted me as soon as i was out.
i knew that i was always going to be looked at as a murderer in england though, so i decided to move away to kos, a small island in greece and help people in a way that they needed and i could. i was the local doctor. people embraced me there, they welcomed me in their houses, they always stood by me.
alex called often to see how i was doing with this new lifestyle i chose and it was a surprise to see her in kos that very summer, in a sundress and huge sunglasses. she had abandoned that strict code dressing and looked so carefree and beautiful. i couldn't help but tell her that.
we were sitting sitting on the wet sand right where the tranquil waves soaked our feet when i mastered the courage to thank her in person for understanding me. i wasn't normal or a goody-two-shoes, I knew that, but this island in combination with alex standing next to me was everything that i wanted for the rest of my life.
"please stay. quit your job and move here. we'll figure it out." I told her right before she boarded on that plane back to england.
"ashton, where is this coming from?" I know I took her by surprise even more so when i leaned down to kiss her, but she didn't fail to amaze me as well when she kissed me back.
"so, is that a yes?"

gah! i can't even believe that this is over after so damn long! i don't know why the hell it took so long, but the ending seemed so difficult to write and I still don't know if i'm satisfied with it.
