20 facts of When I Find You
1: I wrote about Adriane meeting her mate before I wrote Amber getting kidnapped.
2: I never expected to have more than one part in Jake's point of view.
3: I didn't initially plan for Jake to challenge his father.
4: This story originally started off completely different.
5: I deleted the original version just as it started getting popular.
6: Adriane was originally going to be in a coma for 5 years.
7: Amber was originally 10, Adriane was originally 16, and Nathaniel was originally 20.
8: Nathaniel's backstory wasn't originally the way it was, but instead just a normal pack raid.
9: I had written Nathaniel and Adriane meeting without Nathaniel's name because I didn't know his name until later.
10: When I Find You was originally written in first person, but I decided it's be easier to explain things that happened if it was third person point of view.
11: I had written part of the ending but lost it. The ending was completely different from the actual one.
12: I imagined Haverdson as a small town I grew up near; Haverdson was originally going to be an actual town, Harvey.
13: In chapter 15, I didn't originally plan for Nathaniel to stroke Adriane's cheek through the bars. He was originally supposed to back up and Nelson was supposed to start screaming about mates.
14: I didn't plan on writing Adriane's point of view of the chapters that's in Nathaniel's, but I had to write Adriane point of view(Chapter 19) before writing what Nathaniel heard between Adriane and Nelson(Chapter 18).
15: I had a couple of decisions I had to make. One was whether or not to kill the tortured rogue at the club and one was whether or not to kill Jake. TBH I decided to kill both off one day because I was in a dark mood and I figured why not.
16: I screwed up chapter 24. I had more details I wanted to talk about between the two of them; especially the part about Nathaniel being the heir to the Mystery Pack. But, the outcome would have been completely different than that of the ending where Adriane told him she had lost her virginity. In the end, I decided to add it later into Chapter 25.
17: I had three different endings I was trying to decide between. I first started off with Jake would die, and Adriane would automatically become Alpha of the pack, but then I remembered Jake's father. I like the actual ending much better.
18: There will NOT be a sequel.
19: The chapter that took me the longest to write was Chapter 24 where they broke out of the facility. No reason behind it, but it took me at least two weeks to write.
20: I didn't have a plan for the epilogue. I just thought it up as I went. And I also didn't plan for Adriane to get kicked out of the pack either. After I wrote chapter 25 and was writing chapter 26, I changed my mind on her getting kicked out because it would make more sense.
