We arrived the school without a hitch, except for the part when Jill had to shoot the soldier because he turned into a zombie.
“Be careful there’s a lot of infected inside.” I said.
“How do you know that.” The reporter asked.
“Because I’m also infected with the virus.”
She paled and I laughed,” Don’t worry I’m not going to eat you...yet.”
We ended up splitting up to find Angela faster. My senses were going haywire due to the infected and it was hard to track down a little girl. I sensed a large source of infection coming from a classroom and I slowly entered cautiously. There wasn’t a sign of infected anywhere and I whispered,” Angie are you in here?”
She emerged from behind a desk and ran towards me. I bent down to hug her as she clutched to me. “Hey kiddo, it’s going to be fine, we are going to get out of here.”
She grabbed my hand as we made our way slowly through the school. I heard shots being fired in the cafeteria and ran there. Inside a soldier was fighting zombie cafeteria ladies and janitors. I quickly shot a zombie in a head as it snuck up behind a soldier. He turned around and asked,” Who are you?”
“You might want to introduce yourself to the person who just saved your life.” I replied.
“I’m Carlos.” He said.
“I’m Amy and this is Angela. Did the Doc send you here too?”
“Yeah we were suppose to find her.”
“Figures the old man wouldn’t have faith in me.” I muttered.
“Let’s get out of here, you haven’t seen any other people around have you?”
He shook his head no when a large explosion rocked the building.
“Nevermind I think I found them.”
I walked towards the explosion and saw Alice and Jill emerge from the flames.
“You are one crazy bitch aren’t you.” Jill said to Alice.
“Welcome to team badass.” I replied.
Something was nagging me at the back of my mind, a source of infection was headed towards the cafeteria. I told everyone to back away from the doors and we had our guns pointed towards it. It swung open to reveal Rain of all people.
"Rain?" Alice and I yelled.
We rushed at the woman and pulled her into a group hug. "I didn't think I would ever see you guys again." She said.
My grin slowly faded," You're infected?"
I started patting down her body looking for a bite. Rain grabbed my hands and said," I haven't been bitten."
We all shared a look as a single thought passed through our brains," Umbrella."
Our reunion was interrupted when Jill said," Who the fuck are you?"
Jill just doesn't know how to make a good first impression.
"Rain, and you are?" Rain replied.
"Jill." She said curtly.
"Ocampo, glad to see you alive and well." Carlos said.
"Olivera? Didn't think I would see your ass here." Rain said.
Suddenly a phone rang, Carlos went to pick it up.
He spoke quickly and said,” The extraction point is at City Hall.”
“You do know that is half way across the city right?” I sighed.
“Who said we were walking.” Carlos smirked holding up a set of keys.
“I love this guy.” I mouthed to Alice. She shook her head and followed him outside.
We made our way to the parking lot and climbed into a Hummer.
“Catch some zzz’s kiddo, you must be tired.” I said to Angela.
