“Six, please.” Sam announced to the man in the booth. He had slick black hair that was combed back.
The sunset was relaxing. The camping trip was the last thing on everyone’s mind. Once the jeeps fixed they will just have to catch up with the tour.
Alexis was the topic running from ear to ear but embedded into there heads.
This town was quite the find. Not many people seemed to be around. Hedges were uncut along with vines running up and down the siding of the houses. This wasn’t the suburbs.
Charlotte’s cheeks began to warm up after remembering she had the courage to just grab Steve’s hand, just like that. Steve kept his fingers intertwined with hers and also felt a bit taken aback about it, but he liked it very much.
Katie thought she should be honest now more then ever because she forgot to tell Charlie about what she found in her Jeep.
”Uh, Charlie.” Katie interrupted Charlie’s thoughts of Steve but she didn’t mind.
”Yeah?” She said as she snapped out of her thinking.
“I… I’ll tell you later. It’s just something I put in your backpack.”
Charlie shrugged off what she would say. It didn’t feel important since she wanted to wait.
The man in the booth smirked at Sam and gave change and some tickets to Sam.
She looked to Charlie first and gave her one and then handed the rest out. Charlie didn’t notice that Sam’s eyes were technically lighter then a sea blue. Charlie thought the sun was just reflecting off of them.
Charlie noticed the entrance of the maze was a door covered in vines and a “Punch In” sign just above a slit where you must put the tickets. She walked over to it dragging Steve along. She let go of his hand to push her ticket in the slit. The door suddenly opened, revealing just another hedge wall.
She expected this from a hedge maze and strolled right in. She turned around for Steve to come with her and have the others follow. But before he could, the door slammed shut making a screech noise. Charlie jumped but then saw her ticket on the other side of the slit of the door and it fell into a tin like box. She took the ticket and it said “Keep at all times”.
She heard muffled voices on the other side of the door but couldn’t hear because the hedge was pretty high and the door was sealed.
Charlie stepped back from the door and heard a click from the slit.
The door opened again and Sam stepped in.
She turned around and said “See. I told you. It has a motion sensor so one of us can go in one at a time.”
Sam pointed towards the screech noise and there was a latch to the door that makes it close and that was connected to a white device on top. It flashed a little red light and the door closed once again. Sam sighed and took her ticket.
Charlie glanced over her shoulder to see what it said.
“Why does yours say ‘Welcome Back.” Charlotte asked.
Sam stuck the ticket in her back pocket of her jeans and shrugged.
“Must be a glitch. This place looks old.”
Charlie agreed and heard the click of the door. Steve came inside and smirked.
“I knew that.” Steve said toward Sam but stood next to Charlie after taking his ticket.
Sam cocked an eyebrow at him.
The rest filed in one by one and Chris was last.
They turned away from the door and three paths separated by hedges were n view.
