Charlotte and the rest felt full of food and left to drive away from the restaurant.
An hour passed and it was past eight. Katie and Charlotte looked out both windows. Steve was slowing down to a traffic jam.
When the car went to a full stop, Katie, Charlotte and Steve looked in confusion.
There was a commotion of flashing red and blue lights that came from police and ambulance cars about twenty-five cars ahead.
To the side were reporter vans and then a crowd of people towards an area of something big.
Charlotte and Steve scrambled in there seats trying to see over the crowed people. But barely any luck.
Katie wasn’t really paying attention to any of it. Instead she just wanted something to do.
She reached her hand under the seat and pulled out something small.
”Hey, guys look!” Katie said showing what she found to Charlie and Steve. They stopped trying to look over the crowd and looked to Katie in the backseat.
“I found walky-talkies!”
The walkies were still in there plastic storage container.
“Hey,” Charlotte said grabbing the object from Katie’s hand. “I’ve been looking for those, they even have the batteries included.”
“We should give some to Chris, Sam and Bri.” Suggested Katie. She took them back from Charlie and counted eight. They only needed six.
“Use them for camp.” Steve said. “Were most likely to get lost somewhere in the woods.”
”If we ever get out of this traffic.” Charlie said. “I’ll give one to Chris anyways. I wonder why theirs so many people.”
“Maybe a drunk was in an accident.” Katie said.
“Nah, there’s to many police cars..” Charlotte stated and looked to her left. “And there’s three emergency ambulances.” She sighed. “Katie give me one of those walkies.”
”What’re you doing?” Steve questioned cautiously as Charlie unbuckled her seat belt.
”I’m going to see what the hold up is. Turn it to channel 3.” Charlie said and shut the door on her way out, walking towards the crowd.
Steve cocked an eyebrow and looked at Katie. “Well, aren’t you going with her?”
”Uh, I don’t like the look of all the reporters and stuff.” Katie snapped. “I’m not properly clothed.” Katie gave him a smirk. She knew he had wanted a moment alone with Charlotte but he didn’t have much of a chance.
Steve sighed and said, “Fine. Give me a walkie.”
Katie gave the walkie to him thinking he should make a move and knew he didn’t feel like getting up but if she nagged to him, he would have been gone anyways.
He gave Katie an irritating look threw the car door window as he closed the drivers door.
While Katie was left in the car alone, she wondered if Charlie had any finger foods in her car even though she just ate an hour ago.
Katie looked under the seat once again. She looked around and saw something shiny. She looked up to see Steve gone before she reached for the object.
It had a chain attached to it as Katie pulled it out. When she held it in her hand she saw it was a necklace. To her it looked very beautiful.
The pendant was a red diamond teardrop attached to a silver chain and it sure looked real to her.
Katie figured she keep it somewhere safe unlike the floor of the car.
