Third Person
People scurry around Helm's Deep.
"Come on people! Quickly, now!" a man says
"We'll place the reserves along the wall. They can support the archers from above the gate." Aragorn says
"Aragorn, you must rest. You're no use to us half-alive." Legolas says
Èowyn calls out to Aragorn.
"Aragorn! I'm to be sent with the women into the caves." Èowyn says
"That is an honorable charge." Aragorn says
"To mind the children, to find food and bedding when the men return. What renown is there in that?" Èowyn says
"My lady, a time may come for valor without renown. Who then will your people look to in the last defense?" Aragorn says
"Let me stand at your side." Èowyn says
"It is not in my power to command it." Aragorn says
Aragorn begins to walk away.
"You do not command the others to stay! They fight beside you because they would not be parted from you. Because they love you."Èowyn says "I'm sorry."
Èowyn walks away. Inside Helm's Deep, people wander in to the caves. Husbands and sons are taken away from their wives and mothers. In the armory, weapons are handed out to the villagers.
"Farmers, farriers, stable boys." Aragorn says "These are no soldiers."
"Most have seen too many winters!" Gimli says
"Or too few. Look at them. They're frightened. I can see it in their eyes." Legolas says
He looks at Aragorn as the room turns silent.
"Boe a hyn neled herain... dan caer menig!" Legolas says
"Si beriathar hyn ammaeg na ned Edoras." Aragorn replies
"Aragorn, men i ndagor. Hýn ú ortheri. Natha daged aen!" Legolas says
"Then I shall die as one them!" Aragorn shouts
Aragorn and Legolas stare at each other, and Aragorn walks away from the elf. Legolas tries to run after him, but is stopped by Gimli.
"Let him go, lad. Let him be." Gimli tells him
Théoden is given his armor by Gamling.
"Every villager able to wield a sword has been sent to the armory. My lord?" Gamling says
"Who am I, Gamling?" Théoden says
"You are our king, sire." Gamling
"And do you trust your king?" Théoden says
"Your men, my lord, will follow you to whatever end." Gamling says
Gamling helps the King in to his armor.
"To whatever end." Théoden says
Uruks march towards Helm's Deep.
"Where is the horse and the rider. Where is the horn that was blowing." Théoden says
The villagers receive their weapons. A helmet is placed on the head of a scared boy, while another child looks at the axe in his hand.
"They have passed like rain on the mountains. Like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the west. Behind the hills, into shadow."Théoden says "How did it come to this."
Aragorn is sitting alone on stairs. He sees a confused looking child with a sword.
"Give me your sword." Aragorn says "What is your name?"
"Háleth, son of Háma, my lord." Háleth says "The men are saying that we will not live out the night. They say that it is hopeless."
Aragorn stands up and swings the sword.
"This is a good sword, Háleth, son of Háma." Aragorn says
He lays his hand on the boys shoulder.
"There is always hope." Aragorn says
Inside, Aragorn puts on his armor. Legolas hands him his sword.
"We have trusted you this far and you have not led us astray. Forgive me. I was wrong to despair." Legolas says
Aragorn smiles at the elf.
"Ú-moe edamed, Legolas." Aragorn says to Legolas
They look at each other and smile. Gimli enters the room, wearing armor that is far too long for him.
"If we had time, I'd get this adjusted." Gimli says
The armor falls to the ground.
"It's a little tight across the chest." Gimli tells them
Legolas and Aragorn smile at the dwarf. The sound of a horn is heard from outside.
"That is no orc horn!" Legolas says
They rush out. Men peer over the wall.
"Send for the king. Open the gate!" a man says
The gates are opened, and an army of elves march in. Men stare in awe. Théoden walks down the stairs and meets the Elf Captain.
"How is this possible?" Théoden asks
"I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell. An alliance once existed between elves and men. Long ago we fought and died together." Haldir says
Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli rush down the stairs.
"We come to honor that allegiance." Haldir says
"Mae govannen, Haldir!" Aragorn says
Aragorn stands before the elf and then hugs him. Haldir, a little surprised, returns the gesture.
"You are most welcome." Aragorn says
Legolas comes down the stairs and embraces Haldir. The army of elves turn and lower their bows and shields in unison.
"We are proud to fight alongside men, once more." Haldir says
