Twelve : The Awkward Lunch Date & A New Friendship

Callie :

So Niall invited me to lunch with his parents! I finally get to catch up with them! However, Niall said he's bringing someone else too he'd like us to meet. I have no idea who it is, probably an old friend. I get ready for the lunch and head out the door and start to drive to this place called Grilled.

I arrive to see Niall and his parents. Niall seems a little off and so do his parents. Weird. We greet each other with hugs and sit down. I'm sitting by Maura and Bobby while Niall is sitting alone on the other side of the table. Where is Niall's friend?

"Hey Niall where's your friend?" I said wondering.

"They're coming they said they should-" Niall started but was cut off by some girl.

"Hi I am so so so sorry I was late! I woke up late and there was traffic I'm so sorry! What a terrible first impression." This girl said sitting by Niall. Uhm who was this?

"So this is Jennifer and that's my mom Maura, my dad Bobby, and my best friend Callie." Niall said introducing us. Jennifer then shakes all our hands and smiles at us. Still doesn't answer my question why is she here?

"I brought you guys here today to meet my lovely girlfriend Jennifer. I wanted you guys to be the first people that met her and know about us." He said smiling at her and kissing her cheek. Wait girlfriend?! Did I hear that right?!Since when did he have time to meet this girl and date her?! What? How come he never once mentioned her to me? It's too late now to change it. Then it suddenly hits me like a train coming at me with full speed, I'm too late.

"We met when I was in America and we exchanged numbers. She changed her number and never told me so we lost connection. Until two weeks ago we ran into each other again and we've been catching up, it's been that way ever since. I asked her to be my girlfriend officially last night. I hope you guys like her as much as I do, she's coming home with us for the holidays if that's alright?" Niall said smiling at Jennifer.

"We're happy you finally met someone." Bobby said finally breaking the silence.

"Yes I'd love to get to know her sometime." Maura said smiling at Jennifer.

"She seems great. I'd love to get to know her too. It's nice to meet you." I say to her smiling. It took me every fiber in my body not to one break down crying and two not to scream and three to say that sentence.

"I-I need a moment I feel really sick. This morning I didn't feel so well before I came." Lie.

I got up to go to the bathroom and broke down crying. I was too late. Niall finally did pick some girl over me! Something he said he'd never do. My nightmare! It's finally coming true. I couldn't breathe and just continued to break down. I started to sob some more. I was too late. Why couldn't I have just told Niall how I felt the minute I knew when we were 15. I called Liam, he's the only person I can turn to now. I had to tell someone so I choose Liam. He's kind and trustworthy. I almost told him once, might as well tell him now that I've lost Niall.

"Liam you answered." I start to cry ever harder.

"Callie? Are you alright? Why are you crying?" He said into the phone very confused.

"Please Liam I need someone. Don't tell Niall this please." I cry.

"I won't what is it?" Liam asks shocked.

"I love him." I sob even harder.

"That's okay Callie-" Liam says but I cut him off.

"You don't understand, he loves someone else.  I just met his girlfriend and now I'm here crying in the bathroom. Please help me. It's getting hard to breathe and I don't know what to do." I sob.
