"Good morning, dear." I turned to see Maggie standing there looking surprisingly pleasant.
"Good morning. Did you have fun at your party?"
"Yes, I did! Thank you. Maura tells me you helped with all the cooking. That was very sweet of you."
"Oh you're welcome. I love doing it." She is being oddly nice.
"Olivia, Niall informed me I wasn't exactly the kindest to you yesterday. He's right. I'm very sorry I was so rude."
"Oh it's okay. I'm the non-family member crashing your party so I understand."
"But that's not true. You're marrying my grandbaby so you are family and I should treat you that way. Will you please forgive me?"
"Yes, of course! It's okay. Thank you for saying that."
She hugged me and it felt very genuine.
"It's just that Niall has grown up so much in these last five years. Anything that takes him further from me terrifies me."
"Well the last thing I want to do is pull him away from family so don't worry about that."
Niall came into the kitchen. "How are my favorite girls?" He chuckled at himself as he said good morning to us and kissed the side of my head.

We went and had engagement pictures taken so there's one thing my mother will get off my back about.
Ireland truly is so beautiful so we had a lot to work with. But with Niall joking around and giggling whenever the photographer had us try a serious one, who knows if they'll turn out or not.
Sunday afternoon, I had to fly home. I would've stayed longer but I actually have a job interview this week and I have a mom who is calling me every other hour about flowers and menus and bridesmaids dresses.
When I was on the plane digging for my chapstick in my purse, I came across a small piece of paper. When I unfolded it, I immediately recognized Niall's loopy handwriting.
Olivia,
I don't know if you're going to find this today or weeks from now, but as I'm writing this, we get married in four months and I can't fucking wait.
Thank you for coming to Nanny's birthday. Sorry I never introduced you and caused trouble but I knew she'd come around. The fact that you would fly all the way here for only two days for the party of someone you don't know and to basically just help my mum clean and cook the whole time is one of the million reasons I love you. I'm sorry we couldn't get much time to ourselves this trip (and that what we did get made Granny mad haha that was awkward) but thank you.
Good luck at your interview, ya smart ass! I love you and can't wait to marry you.
Niall
Ugh I love him so much. Only he could get away with being super sweet right after calling me a smart ass.
