As we walk through the house I spot one of Ariel's go-to guys and point him out to her. She winks at me and begins to make her way through the crowd, I see her push the blonde off his lap and take her place. I turn and continue through the house. I walk into the kitchen and grab a shot glass off the counter. I look around for the bottle and see a couple sitting on the counter. I walk over and see one is a whiskey, the other a fruity vodka. I go for the Vodka. I pour myself a shot then rummage around again to find a chaser. Finally successful, with a Sprite in hand, I grab my shot off the counter, take a sip of my chaser and add the shot, swallowing quickly. I make a face as the burn moves down the back of my throat and take a big drink of the Sprite I found. I am pouring another when a trio of girls comes in, two years below me. They are giggling and a little wobbly so I can tell they have been drinking, I smile at them and hold up the vodka bottle, The girls come over and start talking to me, so I pull out 3 more glasses and 3 sodas and set them in front of them and we all take a shot together and they all go on about their night.
I laugh and shake my head, then head off to find Ariel again. I decide to take the vodka with me, then realize its almost gone so I grab the whiskey as well, I head towards the back of the house and find a nice lounge type room at the back of the house, they have the music set up in here, and a huge flat screen. I see that the T.V. is set up for video games and can hear the sounds of boys yelling at their game. There are glass sliding doors to the backyard, which is green, with an inground swimming pool. I head for the backyard to escape the smoke of the party and scan the room for Ariel as I go, spotting her over by a table towards the back, I change my course and walk closer till I get her attention. When she looks up at me and waves I wave her towards me and point towards the back doors. She nods and turns towards whoever she's with. I turn around and make my way outside to wait for her escape.
About 5 minutes later she comes out and we find a place to sit, I pass her the vodka bottle and set the whiskey between us on the ground. she takes a shot straight from the bottle and passes it back to me, I do the same and then hand it back to her.
"Where did you find these?" she asks me nodding towards the bottle.
"In the kitchen," I reply simply, I shift in my chair, my shoulders and upper back are a little sore I realize and roll them back, sitting up a little straighter. Ariel notices and asks me whats up.
"I don't know, just a little sore back, prolly just my tired body complaining," we laugh and she takes another drink. I take one more when she passes it to me again emptying the bottle. I am starting to feel the buzz in my head and smile at Ariel.
"I think I'm ready to go back inside now," I say. She stands up and turns to me, grabbing the whiskey. We go back inside and I leave the empty bottle sitting on a table by the door, Ariel takes the whiskey and heads towards the table she was at before. I follow close behind and recognize people from some of our classes as we get closer. I say hello to everyone and lean against the edge of the table.
"This corner isn't very comfortable," one of the girl's comments, I look and see it was Sara, a brunette, with quite an attitude, but also kinda shy, strange combination, but she wasn't bad to be around. I turn back around and observe the room, I see a couple of the corners are taken up with couches, arranged into a square. I look to see if there are any openings and find a couch that has only one occupant. I turn back to the table and tap on Sara's arm. I point to the couch and she smiles.
"Let's go," she says, and Ariel and I follow behind, Ariel sits in the middle, I sit on the empty end, Sara on the other side. We sit and talk about anything and everything and soon the other person moves. Another person across from us also moves, two more of our friends from the table come and fill in the gaps. There is just a couple left at the table now and soon enough the people on the couch opposite us get up and move outside, The last of our group comes over and the bottle of whiskey gets opened and begins to make its way around the group. Between the 7 of us, it goes faster than most would like, the next few hours go by in a drunk blur, thinking everything is funny and having a good time. Around 3 in the morning Ariel's brother texts her saying he's here to take us home. We say our goodbyes and head towards the front door, Just as we turn the corner to the front hall I see Drew disappear up the stairs alone. My dizzy gaze follows him as he goes up and I almost trip on someone in the hall. I focus back on where I am gong and follow Ariel out the front door. His green eyes in my mind. We walk out the front door and down the steps and out to the now cold air. We meet her brother on the corner and I climb into the back seat.
Ariel's brother goes to the community college in town, he knows about what we do, so he usually gives us rides home whenever we go out. He asks his usual questions to make sure we aren't sick and turns towards their house. He parks in the driveway and we get out and head back to Ariel's room. We closet the door and Ariel flicks on the little lamp by her bed. We get into our pajamas and crawl into her bad before quickly passing out.
