*******
Arabella's Point of View
*******
I come to as Drew lands. I look around to figure out where we are and recognize his street. He slips my legs down from around his waist and picks me up as if I'm a small child. I can barely keep my eyes open so I just lean my head against his shoulder and let them slip closed. I listen to the beat of his heart and match my breathing to his. It helps to relax me and I'm starting to feel just a bit better. He walks up his front steps.
"Keys are in my back pocket" he whispers to Falah. I hold my head up and open my eyes.
"I think I can stand now" I say ignoring the pounding in my head. It feels like I've been staring at a really bright screen in the dark for way too long. Drew gently sets my feet onto the ground and I slip my arms down from around his neck. I try to support my weight and I feel my legs give out beneath me. I grab onto Drew's arm and his arm slides back around my waist.
"Let me help you love" he says. I realize he keeps calling me that and I want to ask him why but I figure now is not a good time to prod him about what he is feeling. Now is definitely not a good time to get into anything with him either, I mean we just dug his friend out of a pile of rubble and I healed her deadly wounds. Damn. To be normal again. Damn, that was just this morning. So much has happened in the last few hours it's insane.
My ex whom I still like is a freakin angel then I grow my own wings and go to meet his friends. Oh turns out the buildings been burned down an all but one of em has been kidnapped and the other left for dead. Oh and I can heal people at the expense of my own energy. What next? Unicorns?
Drew helps me into the house and Falah follows closing and locking the door behind her. I see her begin to make her way through the house locking all the windows and closing the curtains. Drew helps me into his room and I sit on his bed.
"What are we doing here?" I ask him.
"Were staying here for the night. You need to get your strength up, and we don't want to travel at night, it would be to easy for them to ambush us." He explains.
"But what if they find us here?" I ask. It seems to obvious of a place to me.
"They can't, this house has been cloaked with fairy magic. Most fairy magic hides things from human eyes, but this is different, only humans can see it. Only guardians or rebels who can see this place are the ones I show." He explains. Sounds like some kind of cloaking spell to me. But after everything today I find I'm not surprised at all. I glance at the clock on his shelf and find that it's 12:46 a.m.
"Can I take a shower?" I ask. I feel so dirty from everything that has happened. I push myself up and manage to weakly make my way to the bathroom.
"Of course you can, you know where everything is." He says. "I'll be in the kitchen" he says before walking out. I walk into the bathroom and close the door behind me. I look at myself and the mirror and see a mess. My hair is all in knots and looks like I haven't brushed it in months. There is dirt and ash across my face. I pretty much look like I was sucked into a vacuum and spit back out into a fireplace full of ash.
I go to reach behind me and realize I need help with the dress zipper. Damn it. I walk out to the hallway.
"Drew" I call semi sofly. He quickly appears out of the kitchen.
"Are you okay?" He says walking up to me.
"Ya I'm fine. I just need help with the zipper. It's stuck." I explain. I turn around and shift my wings out of the way. I feel him pinch the top of my dress and pull the zipper down to my lower back. I turn back around and back up into his room.
"Thanks" I say before slowly shutting his door and slipping back into the bathroom. I peel off the dress and look at it. I toss it in the trash and turn on the water. I slip out of the rest of my limited clothing and step into the shower. I let the hot water run down my body and instantly feel a ton better. I lean my head back and the water slowly soaks through my hair. I look down and see hideously dirty water going down the drain. I turn to grab the soap and accidentally knock it off the small shelf in the corner with my wing. Oops I forgot. I pick up the bottle and begin to scrub my body clean. I then lather my hair and rinse the soap out a few times.
After standing under the hot water for awhile I turn the water off and grab a towel out of the cupboard behind the door. I dry off and wrap the towel around my body or try to. It's way to uncomfortable to put the towel over my wings I struggle a bit to get the towel under my wings on my back and wrapped around the front to stay in place. Grabbing a second one for my hair, putting my hair up in the towel I walk out into his room to find some cloths.
I walk over to his dresser and pull open the top drawer pulling out a pair of boxers I slip into them and then grab a pair of his sweatpants and put them on. I walk over to the closet and dig through till I find the t-shirt I always used to wear. I find it and slip it on over my head. I pull the towel off of my head and throw them both in the dirty clothes and walk out into the kitchen.
