The alarm clock almost gave her an heart attack. She was so startled by its wailing that she nearly toppled off the bed. But then she realized it was only the clock and put a stop to the ringing noise. On other days, she used to get up earlier than the alarm and so she wasn't used to the suddenness.

She sat up on her bed and readied herself for the day.

Memories of the previous night flooded her mind. She smiled sheepishly for a few moments. But she could still feel the shadows of dark blue in the hazel bright of the night. A sudden chill gripped her as she tried getting the blanket off.

Winter is here, finally.

Somehow wrapping the blanket around her, she went to to brush. In her childhood she hated the toothpaste. Almost feared it because of its sharp taste. But now it was her ally. It helped her wake from a zombie-like half sleep.

After finishing her morning rituals she went downstairs to the kitchen to make tea. The kitchen was just below her room. It was an open kitchen, like an extension to the dining hall which was a large common room just overlooking the backyard. A large french window embellished the room and gave the view of the backyard.

Putting the electric kettle to work, Adriana gazed out of the window. The sun was not yet fully out and the sky was still shades of darker blue but golden rays spread out through the sky, like announcers, announcing the imminent approach of the sun. The world was still asleep. But she sat eager to welcome the provider.

When the kettle let out a screech of completion, she put in a tea bag and played with it a bit; looking at the tendrils of tea spreading out.

And finally she sipped at the tea and closed her eyes for a bit. It was almost like meditation.

Yippee! Bacon is love! She mentally screamed as she saw the breakfast plated out on the table.
Her mother had a technical speciality while making bacon and it tasted even better. She did something with oregano but it was her secret recipe and she intended to keep it like that.

Adriana dug in and soon it was down her throat. She got up.

Time for school.

She went upstairs to her room and was going to wear the same pink shirt and the same jeans but something hit her.

I need to wear something else.

She didn't know why she bad this feeling but she just had to wear something else. She decided to open her wardrobe.
Immediately, a torrent of fabric fell on her and she with it. She never knew she had so many clothes.

Jeez! I can open a retail!

With substantial effort she saved herself from drowning in the ocean of clothes and analyzed the situation. Her tidy room was in sharp contrast with the wardrobe and so she decided to clean up the mess.

Soon the clothes sat in neat columns in Adriana's wardrobe. She had selected a black long skirt and a full sleeve top with horizontal stripes. Each stripe had a different hue of red.

When she looked at her reflection, she was surprised by the image. Not that she paid any attention to how she looked on other days and checked the mirror every next second but she looked a lot different.

The black of the skirt matched her eyes and the top showed her curves. She opened her braid and let her ash-blonde hair flow to her shoulder.

Will he notice me? She suddenly asked herself though she had no idea why she needed his attention and who he was.

Then she packed her backpack and put it on her back and glanced at the clock that had woken her up from slumber.

Oh no!!

She was late for school.
