"neon?" ella poked her head into neon's room. neon looked up from her phone.

"ella! it is way past your bedtime! you know we're not supposed to leave our rooms past nine," neon exclaimed. ella just looked at the floor.

"i can't sleep. mommy won't stop talking to me," ella whispered. neon quickly got up from her bed and hugged ella tightly.

"she just misses you, ella," neon whispered back.

"i wish she never trusted that man that she replaced daddy with," ella said sadly. "i told her he was a bad guy, but she wouldn't listen."

"it'll be alright," neon said reassuringly.

"can i sleep in here tonight?" ella asked hopefully.

"you'd have to ask doctor momsen. can you do that?"

"yes. i'll go ask her."

neon smiled sadly as ella skipped down the hall to doctor momsen's office.
