Chapter 20 Maria’s POV

I continued to pace, ignoring the others who were insisting I rested. Olivia was such an idiot! How dare she go and rescue Harry on her own! She should know that the rescue mission solo is pretty much suicidal! What the hell was she thinking?! I growled and I’m pretty sure that was when the boys decided to stay away from me. I was literally fuming!

“Maria!” Katrina called out to me. I raced to the cave entrance to see Olivia limping and Harry helping her support her weight.

All my anger immediately disappeared when I saw that Olivia was injured. I raced out and pulled the two of them into the cave. Olivia hissed in pain as she tried to sit down but we eventually got her to sit down. I immediately looked over Harry but he only had a few bruises but nothing serious. Olivia was my main concern. She just smiled at me and that’s when my anger returned.

“WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING OLIVIA?! YOU COULD’VE DIED!” I screamed at her.

“At least I’m back here alive” She said with a hint of a smirk.

“Olivia…we have just lost Angel…we can’t lose you now” Lily said, her eyes coming close to tears.

Olivia immediately lost her smirk and pulled Lily into a hug while I gave Olivia a ‘yeah-you-better-be sorry’ look. She just ignored me and continued to comfort Lily.

“I don’t want this anymore…I just want this to be over” Lily mumbled out.

I instantly knew what she meant even if the others didn’t. Lily had hit rock bottom after losing her twin that she felt as if she didn’t deserve to live anymore and that she wanted to die….I couldn’t let that happen!

“Lily…we still have work to do” I whispered to her.

“Then let’s do it” Lily said to me angrily.

“No…we need to wait. Now it’s too early and you’ve put your grief before you, not the job we have to do.” I told her and she sighed, knowing I was right.

“What should we do?” Niall asked me.

“Nothing for now…but soon, we’ll have to go out and fight.” I sighed. There was nothing we could do…

“You know what. I’m sick of waiting for them to come to us. We have to take them out, Maria, before the capitol does something to make the games more dangerous. You know this!” Lily hissed out.

“Lily, I’m not going to allow you to go out and get yourself killed” I retorted.

Lily just gave me the coldest look I had ever received from her. It was not a glare, nor was it a look of pure hatred and anger. It was more a composed darkness that had consumed Lily…and I knew no matter what we did, we could never bring the old Lily back. She was gone…maybe not physically…but she was gone. Just like Angel.

“Maybe I don’t need your permission” Lily spat in my face before storming out of the place, leaving a dark chill in the air.

“I’ll follow her. It’s dangerous to be out at this time of night anyway. But in the meantime, you need to calm down,” Katrina said, placing a hand on my shoulder, “Lily’s lost her twin and losing her twin makes her feel like she’s lost half of her identity. You have to realise that”

There was silence in the cave as Olivia sat beside me. I didn’t know what to feel. I was used to ordering and used to being democratic about hearing my sisters’ complaints but…this was new to me. Death I never considered until now. Losing Lily to depression, losing Angel to death….they were another part of the stuff I’ve never considered.
